Title: Hexshafts Tapered
Post by: Gator1 on February 21, 2007, 05:20:00 PM
I was wondering if anyone has experience shooting the Hexshafts...

The tapered design and construction, seem to be a good alternative to the Paradox issue, but the beauty of wood..??

Any feedback would be appreciated..

Have a Kohannah Kurve on order: 51 lbs...at 28"..

Thank you

Thsi last year I shot hex shafts, they are pretty durable, straight.... overall I can't say too much negative about them.  Visually they aren't as nice as cedar, they didn't take my stain evenly, but the poly finish was good...some "felt" out of round when rolled on my fingers, but nothing major.  They don't straighten very well, but they don't need much.  Good, durable, heavier shafts.  I can take some pics if you need.

Gator:
I guess I'm a little biased, I sell them. however its the only shafting I carry now, I feel that strongly about them. I offer them parallel as well as tapered.

I really like them. For some reason the ones that I tapered didn't seem to fly as well as strait ones. They are very durable. I am willing to bet one of the strongest wood shafts available. They can be a pain to get strait, but once they are they tend to stay that way. That reminds me I need to order 2 dozen more for my new bow. Last year, the only ones I broke were ones that I shot into deer. They are pine so they dont look to bad. I paint the entire shaft on mine. You can get them from Bob Burton at Whispering Wind Arrows in Montana. I dont have his number handy.
