I know "another broadhead question" but how bout some observations from in the field experiance on whitetail, hogs, elk with the 100grn or 125grn, I have searched both types in pow wow with little luck, true spin, flight, durability, ease of sharpening etc Much Regards.
I got some Montec 125's a couple of years back. Just target shot with them. Could not get them to fly and ended up giving them away. Pretty solid head, spun like a top, and sharpened up pretty well. Just could never get the flight down. Haven't got to try the Snuffer SS yet. dino
i dont see the difference
i remember reading about someone here on tradgang was testing the new snuffer ss and really liked them. He killed a deer with it i believe as well.
As far as the montec goes... its a good solid head that comes razor sharp out of the package. Works great and i have never heard a complaint about them besides some people not getting them to fly right.
I think the biggest difference you'll find is the blade angle and length. I think the ss snuffers stayed true to the longer shollower blades of the original snuffer (like the WW's)while the G5's are shorter. You could get away with good penetration from the G5's if you're shooting a hefty setup, but I would suggest trying the snuffers first.
I just bought a pack of the Snuffer SS and set them next to a couple of G5's I had and there is no difference at all. I will try to post a picture.

Hmm, well the links work! I was trying to do the pictures?

I tried the G5's last summer.Very well made BH but I thought they were a bit hard to sharpen. They also whistled when I shot them--I didn't care for that too much.I never tried the Snuffers but I bought some Razorcaps after the Montec's and they flew awesome!
Mr. Terry were did your post go? I was hopeing you going to explain the big difference you spoke of.
Dave, checking the web sites 125 grain SS Snuffer is 1 5/16 wide, G5 is 1 1/8, otherwise according to pics posted by Jason they look to have the similar profile, except no second vent on the G5. Shot the G5 from my wheelie bow and they performed very very well on deer and Elk. Comparing the SS to regular snuffer on Magnus's site the regular has a much longer profile and larger cutting diameter. If you are comfortable with the new limbs go with the snuffer. That will make an awesome hole in those hogs and deer.
They look similar, but there are big differences. The Magnus is a much better head IMO. The Razorcap is another great suggestion.
Great pics Jason. I'm disappointed to be wrong though - I guess I was hoping the ss was the same dimensions as the old snuffers. I would definitely prefer the longer blades.
Magnus still makes the Snuffer(Rothaar style)head.I like that way better than the SS
I saw some SS snuffers at bass pro and Iam going to try them this year, look like a great little head with 3 blades of blood letting
