Title: Glass bow limb design question???
Post by: StephenR on February 20, 2007, 12:34:00 PM
After building a few selfbows and BBO bows.I want to try my hand at a three piece takedown longbow.I have three risers put together and I need a little help on the limbs. The limbs are R/D similar to a Morrison Dakota,60"bow is what I am looking for.Risers are 14 1/2" long, wedges are 6" straight taper 1/4" at the thick end.
I am looking for a mid 50# at 28" bow.

Now with all that being said,

With all action boo three tapered lams(one reversed),what thickness should I get,and what thickness for the glass??

If I want exotic veneers do I use thin veneers and subtrct there thickness from the original design,or use one taper and two thicker exotic veneers.

What thickness with maple cores??

I am lost in figuring this out.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Stephen

Dont know what to tell you on thickness butI would use 2 tapers one reversed and one paralell. If you want veneers use two .030s and that will work for your paralell. .040 glass.
