Owen Jefferies passed on this day in 2016. Another great bowyer and innovator. Had a hand in the development of the Savage Death master that eventually evolved into the Schafer Silvertip.

I bought a Jeffery Mity Mag Classic many years ago, still treasure it. We have put in many miles together. I consider Mr. Jeffery one of the greats.

The first trad bow I bought was a Jeffery's recurve I bought in the late 1980s. It was sold to me by a guy named Earnest Gilbert, Gilbert Archery in Savannah, GA under the name Canoochee Warrier. I still have it. :thumbsup:
I never realized he had a hand in developing the Deathmaster. I thought Bob Savage made it first then Schaffer and later others built it. Including Owen Jeffery and Heritage archery bowyers name won't come to me.
Every time I visited his shop on pepper st. I left with a wealth of knowledge as well as good product.
I wonder how many others he touched, certainly many of us military.
Jess;
Seem to recall reading some old threads by Frisky that mentioned some of the collaborations that went on in the early years.

Rocky Miller was the bowyer that built the Deathmaster for a period of time. Not sure if that was before or after Owen Jeffery. His name finally came to me. I had a Rocky Miller Deathmaster for awhile great bow just got to be to heavy for me.
Strangely I have been shooting the same weight since I was @18 years old. My body has held up. Just recently picked up a couple lighter bows for when I need them.
