Title: Aluminum arrow help
Post by: tzolk on January 06, 2024, 11:56:33 AM
Need help picking the correct xx75 arrow. My Whip is 53@30. Cut to center. My carbons are 400 spine axis. 31"bop. 25 gr insert. 200 gr point. Looking for a XX75 that will be 31"bop and use a 200gr point. Not sure how the XX75 inserts are weighted.

I am thinking probably a 2117
Kinda a good all around shaft.
With that weight up front you may be able to try a 2215 but I have never used them.

I have Whistler that is 47@28 and it likes 1916s with 150 heads and 2016s with 175 heads.  I would think a 2018 or 2117 would be your best choice with a 200 grain head.  You may be able to get away with a 2016, but it will be close, depending on if you actually draw 30.

First, make sure the shafts are long enough. Not all aluminum shafts are made the same length. The 2117 (or 400 spine) is a good choice. Inserts are about 18 grains. Might check the Easton website for that info. Unless they have changed the inserts you can't just screw weights into the back of inserts like on carbons. Of course neither insert is inter changeable.

2215 spines 75.2# and 2117 spines 77/4#, I'm a fan of 22xx arrows.  2020 spines at 73.9# and may be an option.

Thanks fellas! I really appreciate the help. Looks like 3 rivers resurrected the 2020s with their own Easton collaboration in Autumn orange.I bet they have the 2216s also.  I haven't shot aluminum arrows since the 80s out of my compound.
