Was a busy season and didn't post much but hunted a lot.
Here's a little summary:
Second day of the season sep 16, nice buck comes down logging road just before dark - I'm about to stop him in the opening and he stops short. I lean WAY out from the stand trying to clear the one limb and maybe I focused on it too much....CRACK....I hit that limb square and the buck runs off....the arrow is still up in that tree to remind me to focus.....[attachment=1]
Not sure why that pic is sideways.....
Anyway I continued to hunt a lot over 3-4 farms I had access to. On Oct 8 I was back at the logging road and couldent hardly believe it when the same buck showed up. The buck was quartered away when I let the arrow fly and it hit about the last rib and stopped in off shoulder. Buck ran out of sight. I sat taking it all in. Arrow didn't exit the deer, and with the quartered away entry I knew there wouldent be much blood if any. I waited an hour. No blood...it was just a visual search, but only lasted a few minutes as I found the deer 75 yds away. I was thrilled. [attachment=1][attachment=1]
Well that was suppose to be diff pics
Made a bunch of sausage and got back to hunting[attachment=1]
One evening I was in one of my short stands. It's only 8 ft maybe, but I zip tied some big leafy branches up there to break me up, and I wear my goofy homemade guhlie hat.
Well here comes a lone doe, perfect. She's heading right at me, but there's a trail about 5 yds away where she will probably turn. I'm already at 1/2 draw and on the edge of my seat. As she starts to turn I hit full draw and awe or hits low in the heart. 40 yd dash and it's over. And now I see the fawn, dang, I would have preferred to just shoot the fawn, it comes through just a little farther but easy range, the second arrow flies, solid double lung. 25 yards and a few seconds later it's over. Time to get to work[attachment=1]
Continued to hunt into the fall. Tried again to kill a duck w my bow to no avail. Tried the turkeys too but no luck.
Still a week or so left in the season.
Hope everyone has had a good season
This year I was shooting my 1959 Bear Polar.
