These should be my final modifications....Ghillie suit fits inside with room to spare. External pouches for al of the other stuff. Tennis balls to keep me from sinking in soft dirt. Eberelstock pack comes off in about 30 seconds if I want it to.
I may add a cushion, but not happy with what I have laying around.
Looks like a sweet set-up, Roger. I just ordered one yesterday so I'm glad I popped over and saw this post. Looking forward to playing around with it. Tired of buying seats and being disappointed. Had more action on the ground this season than from the trees, even with the butt-numbing stuff I have.
That my friend is absolutely genius! I've got the bird bag on mine. your setup is far superior love it!
Camo boat throw cushion might fit in thier for your seat.
I added a thin cushion about 1 inch thick, to me something thicker was less comfortable. I have it tied on and it just folds up in the seat. The best mod I made was to remove the strap that adjust the amount of lean and replaced it with a rope chain I made from parachord, quick and quiet to adjust. I posted some pics on another thread about Packseat mods.
I just got mine this year , one of my favorite pieces of gear.
My Dad and I love our Waldrop Pac-Seats. David is such a nice guy and a joy to speak with...he truly has a niche with a nice Made in the U.S.A. practical hunting seat.
The one modification we did was spray painting the tennis balls with flat OD Green spray paint. We also added padded Thermaseats, which have a nice velcro strap that secures around the top bar of the seat when hiking into our hunting locations.
Love my pak seat been using it for years. Only issue is it has developed a creaking noise. May be from the seat material rubbing on the aluminum as you shift your weight - anyone combated that issue w success?

Spray the creaking spots with cooking oil, like Pam.
Thanks Roger - may try a small area, afraid it will make for a greasy seat...unless I put a little non porus material over it
Tim, my seat squeaked occasionally after the first season. I determined it was coming from where the straps rubbed on the frame. I wet a rag with unscented silicone boot spray and put a light coating on all the areas that contacted the straps. It's been quiet all season, so it's something I plan to keep up with.
If you don't want to get oily, which I'm not sure pam will be that oily, use graphite powder
Thanks boys, I'll give them both a try. My seat is old and has been used a lot, I kinda figured all that pressure and time on the seat mesh meeting the aluminum was to blame.
Tim B try carrying a stick of welders soap stone in your pack. I have found it to be convenient to carry and use for the last thirty or so years. When a piece of equipment develops a squeak rub the soap stone on a small piece of sand paper or a rock or dry stick. You will have instant talcum powder some excellent dry lube. The rectangular sticks of soap stone work better than the round ones. Good hunting.
Nice setup, Roger. I have really enjoyed my Pacseat. Just told my wife last night it's the best piece of hunting equipment I've purchased in a while. Picked up a turkey seat version for my son and need to customize his some.
I know seat cushions are a personal preference thing. But I find the seat mostly comfortable, and just want a little extra cushion. What I have found to be perfect and easy to pack in is a Therm-a-Rest Z Seat or one of the cheaper knock-offs. Super light, keeps your butt warm, and adds just a bit of comfort. But again, seat cushions are one of those things that each person will have a different opinion on. Just thought I'd share what has worked well for me.

Rodger,
Great pictures. Is that the original design from Dave? I have one and love the seat. I'm trying to finger out what good options I have to attach my bison gear to it.
This is the pack I'm trying to figure out the best way to attach it [attachment=1]
I attached my pack also. I stitched some old army pack clips to the back strap on the seat. The pack clips on or off easily.[attachment=1]
One more pic[attachment=1]
I'll have to try some of these mod's.

Researching the pack seat I see the biggest complaint was the seat, being only 14" wider can see why. I like the idea, it looks like it would be great but a 14" sling seat doesn't sound comfortable. If the seat was wider I would buy one.
1Canvas,
I'm not exactly "narrow" in the rear end area, but have never thought that the seat was anything but very comfortable. As I mentioned in a previous post, I add a thin pad to it and can sit for hours with no issue.
But that's just my experience. I'm guessing what's comfortable to some may not be to others. I'm really happy with mine, though.
Hope that helps.
Jimmy
I really like the idea of the PAC Seat. As I have gotten older I have started going from the trees to the ground more. Currently I use both a Millennium Tree Seat and Millennium Blind Chair, both work great, but looking at the PAC Seat I can see where it could work better.
1CANVAS , I to used to have the MILLINIUM Tree seat , the tree seat is very comfortable quiet and light weight , I liked it a lot. But , I kept finding places that I felt the Pac seat would work better in. I finally bought one and love it , I sold the Millinium. The PAC seat is much more versatile
👍 thank you, I think I will have one by next season. I am selling stands and just keeping one climber and one hang on and sticks.
Love my Pac seat use it all the time comfortable no issues. I do use a 1" therma seat with it on long sits.
I use mine more and more, especially since moving to the mountains 3 years ago. I tried a bunch of different packs and attachments for the seat, but was never satisfied with them. Either they flopped and made noise while hiking in, or they took too long to attach and remove. I bought the game they make and it's a game changer. It's quiet and no need to attach/remove—I just keep it on there. Plenty of room for extra layers, food etc.
I've been interested in these for awhile now. On a recent hunt I had a chance to sit in one. They're great seats, but for me at 6'6" they just sit too low to the ground. If they ever make a "tall" version, I'll be all over it.
They do make a taller version, I have one. At least when David owned it, it was an option.
I have other options, but use my Pac Seat more than the others.
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:
Thanks, Kelly. I'll be looking into that.
The Waldrop Company - Good to hear that most have enjoyed our seat. Again, these are hand made right here in Georgia from start to finish. We realize it is not a fit for everyone and totally respect that. We greatly appreciate everyone that have given us a chance and tried the seat. We feel it is the best ground hunting seat in the world and stand behind it 100%. We hope to be making some addional addons to the seat in the future. Happy Hunting!!!

Without a doubt it's the best piece of bowhunting equipment I've bought in a long time. It's with me every time I'm hunting whitetails, even if I'm going to a lock on it's at the bottom of my tree if the wind changes or I see a buck chasing a hot doe to far out of range, I can move to where I need to be. It keeps me mobile when I need to be and still when I need to be. If I lost it somehow I'd buy another immediately, can't be without it now.
I have one of the earlier versions. If I am not elevated I am in my seat. I love it. I also use it at all my grandkids games or just sitting around the campfire. Made in America.
The Waldrop seat is one of those things that you buy, and then you are REALLY glad that you did. It exceeds expectations in quality and performance........before any modifications are made.

Try one at a show or something.....it is very comfortable.....I'm 225 and not skinny by any stretch.
With all of the positive posts and reviews I will be ordering one this summer.
Me too! You guys are wonderfull salesmen! Thanks
Just a few more questions, where the bolts go through the tubing is there and bushings?
Secondly, that bottom back bar that is on the ground wouldn't work for me setting up against the tree due to roots coming from the tree, how does the seat work when leaning against the tree with just the front legs touching the ground?
There are washes that act as spacers on the bolts. Once powder coated, they are lubbed. There is no play in them. In regards to the rear leg, the rear leg when carrying or when leaning against a tree should always be in the upright position. There is a strap at the top of the seat that is made to lock/strap the rear leg up.
Usually on better quality tree stand they have Teflon or nylon bushings to eliminate squeaks.
These do not squeak i Can assure you. This seat has been on market for approx 20 years with no squeaks from bolts. The only noise it could make is from fabric against the tubing. This is correct by applying generously a coat of GULF wax that can be purchased via Walmart or Amazon. When we build the seats, we apply the wax. However, just like anything, the wax over time wears off.
I have often used silicone on tubing that has fabric over it on tree stands. This PAC Seat is definitely on my "to purchase" list. I just think it would be a great fit at this time in my life.
WOW, 50.00 shipping, that's a hard cost to swallow. I ship in my business so that makes it really hard.
We have tried both ups and FedEx. It's the size of the box not the weight. By the time we add the insurance to the shipping, some times we break even some times we loose and sometimes we make a dollar. We no control over the shipping costs.
I have a coupon for $20 off that should help. "PACSETVETERANS20"
☝️Now that's a deal I just can't pass up. I just placed an order. Thank you.

Just to be clear.....I have no interest in Waldrop seats. I don't even know who owns them now.
I own a ton of treestands, including Lone Wolf and Hunting Beast stands, which are widely recognized as "top quality'. The Waldrop seat is built as good or better, and is MUCH quieter than either of those stands.
That's awesome! We offer a 100% money back guarantee minus shipping if your not satisfied. We work very hard to keep the quality of the seat while offering at a reasonable price. Please remember, these seats were sold for $350 2 years ago. We have brought the costs down as much as possible and still stay in business. We make every seat by hand and stand behind our products.
Has anyone tried the Blackout Comfort Max 360 Original Blind Chair. There are several other models to choose from.

I have been looking at these seats for over a year reading reviews and asking questions, I have not read any negative reviews about the seat or the company. The one single review that had an issue it was handle great by the company. The seat itself should work great for me as I move from trees to the ground as I get older. Currently, after trying many seats I settled on the Millennium Tree Seat and a Millennium Blind Chair, both extremely comfortable. The blind chair, although high quality is heavy, but it works great where there are no trees to fasten the Tree Seat to. The Tree Seat is both light and comfortable. With either seat I carry on my back in with a harness. I figure the Pac Seat can do both and much lighter. The real advantage I see with the Pac Seat is I am able to carry in extra clothing and other things much easier. Hooking clothing and gear on to the seats I have does not work well at all. I am a late season hunter and this ability is huge for me. I believe the Millennium seats are the most comfortable but the Pac Seat only has to be comfortable enough. I have various seat cushions that can help with that.
So it seems to me the Pac Seat is a good choice for me, I have put a lot of thought into it.
I have trusted friends on other forums that own them a really like them.
One more thing I like about the PAC seat vs the Tree seat. In the Tree seat every time I fall asleep id wake up with a crick in my neck because my head leans forward. I adjust the lean on my PAC seat so I'm leaning back and don't get those crick's in my neck anymore :archer:
The PAC seat is a lot more comfortable than I expected. I had read all the reviews that mentioned them being comfortable I really thought that the comfort level was being exaggerated. It's much more comfortable than i expected.
Like Roger, I have no interest or connection to the seat, I have had mine for many years. But I will mention, that after I mentioned in this thread that my seat fabric began to squeak, Tim, the new owner, sent me a PM to tell me about the Gulf Wax. That was nice, and respectable as the owner following up with a small issue.
Gulf wax is a great idea. I have been squirting seats and treestands for years with Pam.....Gulf wax is a better plan.
I bought my Pac seat off of Dave a few years back and paid $ 250.00 + shipping. Like everything else these days cost and shipping go up. To the new owners you have a good product try hard to keep the prices reasonable for your product. Customers appreciation goes a long way for future sales. Thanks for maiking a good product.
Shipping costs are why I try and buy things at the shows....Compton, GLLI, Kalamazoo.....

If I see an item that I decide would work for me I'm pretty quick to buy it. Over the years there have been some great stands and other items be discontinued, not because of anything bad, just not profitable. The latest example is the Sherpa conversion tree stand game cart, I knew for the price that they were charging it was too low to be profitable. I'm glad I bought one when I did, that thing is great. Now that I can no longer carry more than 20# on my back, with the Sherpa cart I can cart my stand and gear in and out without a big concern about weight. It's a great item for us older hunters.
I did have an issue with the 50.00 shipping cost on the Waldrop Pac Seat, but when I got 20.00 off with the discount code, 30.00 for shipping was more than reasonable and was my trigger to buy now.
If this Pac Seat works out as well as people say and I think it will be well worth the costs.
I would hate to miss out on a great product because of shipping costs.
I ran into a guy hunting this year using the Sherpa cart . Think the guy said he was in his seventies. He was going in farther than I want to these days.

Almost seventy myself 😏.
For anyone interested I found a 9 page thread on Saddlehunter.com. It has a lot of opinions from people who have and been using the pac seat. It has made me feel good about ordering one.
I got my Pac Seat today and this is going to work out great. It's unbelievably light weight, just what I needed. It is very well built and very high quality, think it's the perfect height seat for me at my age, it fits over the tallest tree roots, a big plus for where I hunt. I have a Hazmore seat cushion that works great on the seat, it's very lightweight and not very thick. With the option of free standing or leaning against the tree, this will be perfect for me. I couldn't be happier with the Waldrop Pac Seat.
I will be playing with it for a while and probably get a bit of paint on it and do some modifications . My only regret is I didn't order the game bag with it. I thought it may have been included being I seen a couple of video unboxing on YouTube where they were surprised to see one folded up in the back. No problem, I will order one before next season or maybe just make one, I have a boat canvas business. I just wanted to get the seat so I know what I will be selling in the fall with stands and different seats. What everyone has said about the seat is true, I think it's about as good as it gets for ground hunting.
I will eventually post modifications at a later day.
I think I had been reading up on these seats for over a year, but to those on the fence about buying one do it, as others told me, you won't regret it.
Going to be 72 in the near future, had a PAC seat for a long time ! Its comfort and being used friendly has kept me in the woods.
I added a LWCG shoulder harness and belt, also a pair of wide bottom cane boots that are used while using a cane in sand. I am trying my Hazmore tree stand cushion on it. This works really great. I will be using it on my range tomorrow to do some shooting on it.
