Title: SE KS hunt @ Bent Oak Hollow
Post by: KSshrewman on November 13, 2023, 04:12:40 PM
Another KS deer camp is in full swing again.  This year Huckbuck and I dedicate the hunt and time together to our longtime coaches and mentors. Our Brothers of the Bow Gene and Barry. Lifting a glass to the Wensels!

Well... thank you guys. That's an honor. I haven't been on the internet for a couple weeks now since my new book got delivered. I wasn't going to make it public until Dec. so I could hunt. But the word got out and I've been overwhelmed and haven't been out 10% of what I normally hunt. Just really bad timing on my part. Ha. This thread caught my eye because a buddy of mine just killed a B&C in Anderson County, KS last week.
At any rate, have a great hunt; send me a "hero picture" or two and here's to a sip or three of the good stuff. Don't choke!  :goldtooth: Barry Wensel

Any pictures of that Anderson county Buck?

Yes but he wants to keep it low profile. It had 13" G2s; 27.5" main beams and 6.5" bases with mass throughout.

Slow go here for us on day 6. No wind at all and very warm temps have halted movement where we are except at night.  We're making the best of it with Dutch oven cobbler and some more firewater to take the edge off. Tomorrow is a new day!

Day 7 was more of the same.  Warm temps limited daytime movement.  However this evening a cooler wind picked up and we did see a little more activity.  Running out of days....day 8 tomorrow let's hope one of us gets to loose an arrow as a North wind will blow for the first time....

Love these rustic camp hunts! Wish I would have bought trapline years ago.

Reminds me of my grandfathers hunting cabin in north-eastern PA.  He sold it before I started bow hunting at 16.
