Got a late start on the season because of work. Was able to get a good sized doe last week and another freezer filler last night. Shot both with the San Marco Hillstyle longbow from the ground. The doe was shot with a POC arrow and Grizzly head the buck a 2 blade Delta on a Surewood shaft. Hunting a good funnel area and have seen quite a few deer. I got a few Doe tags and one more buck tag so I'm hoping for another chance at the 2 bigger bucks I've seen. Cold snap has got the deer moving and a scrape line 80 yards long appeared overnight were none were Saturday.
Congratulations !!!! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Sweet! My kind of hunting! :clapper:
That plaid shirt with the doe blends in perfectly! Good shooting.
I leave for deer camp tomorrow morning and hope to connect with another myself with the cooler temps. Magic November! Maybe a fall turkey encounter as well. Good luck!
Awesome! Way to go sir!
Congratulations on two great deer!

Great season going so far. Good luck with the rest of it.
Very cool.
Great job sir!
David, congratulations to you. What are the specs of your San Marco?

Congrats. Nice deer
Thanks for sharing. Nice season so far!
Very impressive. You have the Hill thing and the ground game figured out! JV
Well done!!!
Nice freezer filling!
[attachment=2,msg3041583]Quite a week. Shot a hog of a 9 point this evening. Surewood shaft and a 2 Blade Zwickey Delta and he went maybe 60 yards. Public land National Forest deer.
One of the hottest spots I've ever found. 3 deer in a week and a half and I've seen probably 15 total from the same spot. Been a blessed season
Congratulations, thanks for the details and pictures. You have a Great season in the making.
I know you hunt from ground but are you running a certain chair or just "roughing" it on a log or knees?
Congratulations again sir! What a fine deer!
Congrats on a beautiful buck!
You are definitely having a banner season!
Congrats! I'm always surprised on the large body size of the LA deer compared to other southern states.

There's downed trees and brush piles aplenty, I don't carry a chair or blind or anything else. I stand if I can or kneel down when it's close to deer time. It's been so dry still hunting is near impossible. Sitting in one spot is tough.
Congrats!
You certainly have a string going.

Thanks for reply. Yeah I wish I could hang like that but these old knees and back are mother with out my Waldrop!!
Going in with nothing but a bow and quiver and knife is very appealing though. Really bare bones is prolly best imo.
Wildlife Refuge archery season opened today, kinda warm. This guy chased a doe right by me turned around and came back 10 yard shot. I was on the way to my tree stand I hunted this morning. I'm outta buck tags.
Realized my bow was cropped out of the pick. Here he is where he fell
Another angle
Found a good natural blind in a dry creek bed that has a lot of deer traffic. Spent the morning sharpening skinning knives and broadheads. I'm ready for the does and maybe hogs.
Buddy you are having a awesome season. Way to go man!! :archer2:
That buck looks good size body wise.
Thanks to everyone.
Yeah Tim it's been a season to remember for sure. I usually kill 4-5 deer a season but spread out over the season. The last 2 weeks have been busy. I also kill on average twice as many hogs as deer on a normal season. I've yet to get a chance at a hog? Seeing sign but not much else. Game warden said they'd trapped over a hundred pigs in the area I hunt so I'm sure that's the main reason.
You might have to change the title to hunting the easy way if you kill any
More from the ground lol.

Lol. The wind was swirling bad yesterday I ended up hunting a treestand. I haven't gave up stand hunting entirely as sometimes it's the only option if you want to have any chance for success. Ended up seeing only one small one eyed buck. The temps have warmed which slowed down the daytime movement. That creek blind I found looks really promising but I need the wind to cooperate.
Yeah we have really high winds today. Took the morning off myself to get caught up on a few things. Gonna hit the afternoon from ground. I got nothin to lose at this point. Lol. Really don't wanna be up a tree in 35 mph winds.
Work interrupted my season but I was able to get a big doe yesterday. Another Zwickey Delta thru the heart Surewood shaft. Hunting a natural blind in a dry creek bed.
Congratulations again David; you're doing that San Marco proud.
