Well looks like my 2023 Pa, bow season is shot, we have a small farm with horses and I somehow managed to get my right hand between stall gate a 1100 lbs. of mare deciding to leave in a hurry. I shoot 3 under and with a broken thumb and index finger looks like I'll be sitting this one out. Friend says buy a crossgun, that ain't happening gonna wait for late season flintlock, and what really sucks is trying to open my copehagen can, still love my horses and gonna hunt vicariously through here and by setting up the misses.
Geeezzzz,,,,, so sorry o hear about that. Take care sir!!!
Hope you heal up quick! In all seriousness though... you could try a release. It's gotten many people through in times like you are experiencing.
Man that sucks!!!! Geeessss,,,, go south when you heal, you can hog hunt!!!
Dang, so sorry to hear that.
I thought my issues with carpal tunnel and possible torn rotator might keep me out of the woods. Now recurring vertigo appears like it'll keep me on the ground now as well. Was about to try a release for my string hand that got so bad I couldn't brush my teeth etc. etc. Steroids have helped a bit. Dropping to 35lbs is allowing me to keep shooting but sparingly. Ultimately I figured my camera was going to be my weapon of choice this fall.
As mentioned above the south has a lot of late season hog hunting. Stay positive.
So sorry to hear about that Bob. Man, I'm pushing 60 and thank the Lord still wide open. I got my grandfathers genes thank God! He was spitting nails till he died. I miss him so much.
Yeah I think I got the arthritis thing etc. from Mom's side but the stubbornness from Dad's.
Sorry we don't do compound bows here.
X bows as well!
I'd rather go snook fishing instead. I can still hold a fishing rod. :biglaugh:
Sorry, that sucks.
I feel your pain - I had a standardbred racehorse in a wash stall that lunged forward, catching my arm between his shoulder and the post. fractured my forearm and lost a bow season.
thanks guys like I said will wait till our late flintlock season only thing that comes close to a recurve or longbow, always have some nice ones that make it be kinds cool to take one Jerimiah Johnson style and use my horse to haul him out.
That's very frustrating. I'd just find a way to still get out this year, even if it means launching an arrow from a different device for a season. Personally, being in the woods takes much higher priority in my mind than what you're using, and meat's meat regardless of how it ends up in your freezer. Next season you can just pick right up where you left off last season. I don't know anyone who would or should think any less of you for that.
I have a friend that shoots 2 under. It might take a couple weeks to heal up a bit but you might be able to salvage the end of the season.

OOPS! Sorry Terry. I thot of that later when I was heading in to town. Just trying to help a brother out.
Injury is not a good way to miss season. Hope it heals well a d you fill your freezer in any manner you can.
I'm pretty sure shoulder surgery is going to put a halt to my bow hunting this year.
I put both of mine off to Thanksgiving that way I could power through and get my deer. Made rehab fun.
