Title: New Sponsor for LTR and MASSIVE Skull/Tusks
Post by: Terry Green on August 21, 2023, 10:27:08 AM
Amongst all the other Sponsors that have donated  over the years for repeat trips,  we now have a new company that will join the camp....

Tradtrackr will be donating 3 units for the 2024 hunts.  I have never used a string tracker before, but I think it would be cool to try one out.

Last year was my most epic tracking job ever in recovering Smokin Joe's massive javie in the dark. Now I'm just curious to try a string tracker for kicks.

These will be available for anyone to use during the 3 hunts.

Let's hear it for Norman Parks and Tradtrackr!!!  :clapper:

That's wonderful. Love it that we have sponsors helping with the fun of the Laredo Tusk Roundup.

I'll say something here about Terry's tracking ability. He has a sixth sense or an instinct about what an animal will do that is absolutely amazing. It is sort of a thing like, "If I were that javelina I would have gone this way." And then there is the next blot of blood exactly where Terry said it would probably be. It is just an amazing ability.

Here is the skull from that big boar javelina...

Thanks for the compliment Joe. Ya know, we all love to see animals go down in sight, or hear them crash, but that's not always the case. Folks out west can't can't comprehend that sometimes as they can see forever.

Being that I have been on so many group hunts, and were on so many tracking jobs for others, some of which ended up with me getting another arrow into the animal, that tracking has become a game/challenge unto itself. My quest to find an animal, or put another arrow into it, has become VERY personal to me.

Of all the animals I taken, tracked, got a 2nd arrow into, finding Joe's Javie that night is one of my most memorable and satisfying events in bow hunting ever.

These will be customized for the Hunt.   The lady who does my custom lettering is on a long vacation trip but here is one she has done.  Will post pics of the one for the [attachment=1]Tusk hunt when she gets back

This sponsor is a great fit with LTR and all those thorny blood trails. Might save you a few thousand sticks Terry.  Nice skull Joe.  Mine from this year look good in my man cave.  JV

Super nice display!!!

Yeah Kodiak.  I'll definately have to change my normal hunting style to use the Tracker.  You know me, running around like the Tasmanian devil.  I'll have to commit to a 'set up', which I can do, and maybe us it at night on a hog set up.

I am defiantly going to commit to using it, and may even try in OK in October on whitetails.

These trackers look great and I'm looking forward to trying one out!  I've used a tracker on hogs and turkeys in the past that had a leather housing for the standard tracker spool.  I was hunting hogs at Wild Things with Andrew Harper, and I got caught out in the rain.  The next day I had a shot at a small boar on one of the stands.  My arrow left the bow but went straight to the ground.  The string came out in clumps.  I didn't realize it, but the spool had gotten wet the previous day.  I learned an important lesson to keep the spool dry and if it does get wet, throw it away.  I found a tracker that had a metal housing that sealed and protected the spool, but they screwed into a stabilizer bushing which none of my bows have so I abandoned the tracker idea.... until now.  This tracker looks to me like an improvement in two ways.  From the video it looks like there is less drag on the arrow than the 17 or 30 lb. test tracker spool line and the plastic bobbin and wood housing with the cork should protect the thread from getting wet in the event of rain.  I will be hunting LTR 2024 the third week as a first-time attendee.  Thanks for sponsoring!

The light line is both the pro and con of the Tradtracker.   In my opinion the pros far outweigh the cons.   Look forward to some reports from Laredo

Yes, I have other pics, but this one is the best and it STILL doesn't do it justice. This Javie was HUGE.  The biggest I've ever seen brought into camp in the 20 years I've been hunting them.

Those trackers would be welcomed hunting Blacktail deer out west, there is NO seeing forever in western Washington state.  :bigsmyl: :archer2:

Yes Ken, I've been in Washington St and Oregon, not the same as what I was insinuating at all.  Can't wait to see you again in TX!!!
