Title: Mountain Muffler Strings
Post by: Alexander Traditional on January 21, 2023, 08:58:46 AM
These look like good strings, and a sponsor. I never hear anyone talk about them.

Anybody have any feedback?

Plenty of folks lost positive feedback here and other forums. Personally I use the recurve hush and hush puppies he makes.  I just found his strings louder than my previous supplier.  That said I believe it was a difference materials not build.  However he has an option between endless loop and Flemish twist.  I didn't see it when ordering.  Got endless loop, no stretch, not enough twist to even hold the hush puppies and I just tossed the strings aside and moved on. My fault but wasn't worth wading through the mess of getting corrections.  Lost Daniel as a supplier though and still fishing.

I've had good luck with my mountain muffler strings. I've had several on multiple different bows. No issues, quiet, durable, and Steve is helpful if you need advice via email or over the phone.

Steve makes fantastic strings! They really can help quiet down a recurve too. I have one on my '59 and St Joe longbow and have had on many others.

Might give them a call. Got more yeas than nays.

On my recurves I have found his strings to be the quietest that I have ever used and, as said above, he is a great guy to deal with. When he offers advice, listen!

I ordered a couple sets of their wool yarn string silencer kits yesterday. I'll give them a try on my longbows and see how that goes.

He makes a great string.  I get him to make them in 8125 with padded loops and extra long tags for my Borders.
I just put in an order for two more.
I tried making my own but I don't do well and now have a whole bunch of string material.  I can never get the length correct despite Steve's tips on doing so.

Yes, Mt Muffler is using the BowHush wool I sent him. And, I always advised that they didn't work well with endless strings.

I've used them - very good strings.  The owner seems to be a super nice guy too - very responsive.
