I need some direction to get started with aluminum arrows. I shoot recurve bows in the 48-55 lb range and use 125 grain points. What sizes should I try? Thanks
I would go with a 2016 assuming 28" draw length.
I agree. Start with 2016's. Cut them to your length and switch point weight if you need any adjustment. Unless your draw is very short of long, I'm betting they will be perfect.
Agree as well. That's what I used prior to switching to cedar
2016 for 50#-45. 2114 for 50#-55#. The black gamegetters available from Easton in 500 spine are = to 2016. IMO for the money they are a good shaft.
Looks like your kinda in between on spines between your 48 to 55 pound bows.The 2016s sound good at the lower end if thier not too long and you dont have a long draw.M60 Gunner made a good recommendation on the 2115s for your heavier bows.
I would not pass up a 2018 on your heavier bows maybe cut a tad longer and play with point weights.I shoot from 125 to 175 grain on alumimums.I play with length as well.
I do shoot 2016s out of lower 40 pound bows.But thier cut to 30 inches and have 175 grain points.Good arrow for me.I can shoot lighter spine 1916s and 1816s out of those same bows with shorter arrows and lighter points.I draw about 28 inches.My bows are mosty cut to center and are hybrids and recurves.
Drawlength,arrow length and point weight play a roll.You should be able to find a few spines that work for you!
I will only shoot 125gr field points and broadheads because I have hundreds of the. If they need to be weighted then I will add something behind the point.
Normally 2016s will work by adjusting the length. A variable to consider is the amount of center shot on your bows. I've owned 45# bows that needed 2114s and other 45# bows that needed 700 spine like 1816s.
If needed you can play with the side plate, making it thinner or thicker, to help tune the arrow.
Depends on how long an arrow you like to shoot. I shoot full length 2018s out of a 43#.
Out of my GP 64" Cazadore 50# 30" draw I shot 2117. Depends on your draw and is bow cut past center, ect. Unless you are cutting arrows to less than 30", 2016 sounds weak to me.
