Antler growth in many locales is sufficient enough to possibly identify a target buck. Often times, my personal target buck may not even be identified until the 1st week of November.
Fortunately, for this season, I already have identified two target bucks and setups are ready. Hopefully, there will be more to add to the list. Attached is a pic of one of the target bucks:

These bucks are approximately 60 yards from a setup that I had decoyed in 27 bucks over the past three seasons. The deer have already demolished the one-acre soybean food plot. This soybean food plot was productive last season thru mid-December...Still early enough for a plan B.
That one has a little more mature look to him.
I don't target anything specific. Our deer wander too much. I usually hold out for one of the top five. Some in that category don't show up till end of October.
I just set out some cameras last week. One landowner has seen the best one from last year already. He was upper 160's.
