Title: Finish on fiberglass backed bows
Post by: Pointed_stick on June 07, 2022, 11:45:07 AM
For guys backing bows with glass, and using spray on finishes. Are you masking off the glass, and just spraying the exposed wood surfaces, or spraying finish on all parts including the the glass itself? Thank you

Regardless of the application method,  I apply to the entire bow at once.

When the bow is ready. I spray the entire bow. You have to sand the glass,I use 220 dry. The glass is hard. Sand just enough to remove the shine. JF

I like to hand apply a couple coats of thinned shellac to all the raw wood, sand it all the way down, then spray sealer and finish on entire bow.

Thank you for the replies! I thought that might be the case, but wanted to check with those who have used glass before.
