Title: Hunting with your wife
Post by: Larry Dean on February 02, 2022, 05:25:23 PM
For 49 years come tomorrow, my wife has been my hunting and canoe tripping buddy. I sang this to her back then and I can can still sing and play it just as well today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIjXYOniTPI

Very cool!!!!

I got my wife to go sit in a blind with me one time. I shot a pig and hit him in the spine. She has not been hunting with me since that day!!!

My wife, doesn't have the same passion to hunt animals that I do.  She'll camp within sight of the truck, but not hike for days like I enjoy.

My wife has never been to one of my deer leases.  Been to the ranch we own once for an afternoon.   Saw the land we own in Missouri once.
Hunt?  No way.  But she will cook and eat venison so I can live with it.

I lost my best hunting partner Aug 10 of 2016. She was my hunting pal since 1958. She really loved it.

My husband used to help me set up camp, go squirrel and deer hunting with me, helped drag and butcher. He did everything except kill a deer, but he came close a time or two.

Now, he stays home and I go camp. I am not as hot to kill anymore. It turns into work once the game is down. I would like to get a grouse or turkey before I go, they aren't so hard to drag! :biglaugh:

Maybe another deer, just to remind myself why I haven't killed one in a long while.
And to take my woodly communion.

That's cool!

My wife is not a hunter, but she is a strong supporter.  When my son killed his first deer in 2003.  Renee and my mom drove 5.5 hours to bring him a cake to celebrate the milestone.

My wife cooks it as long as all she has to do is take it out of the freezer and make dinner.  Everything prior to that is on me!!!

My wife hunted with me for several years, before and after we married.  She's kind of lost the fire now.  She would jump for a chance at a javelina hunt, though.

Ron I know how close you and Nancy were again so sorry for your loss I know it has been hard,

Tracey Started hunting with me shortly after we were married 41 years ago. She has been hunting 34 years now and I feel blessed to have my best friend with me every time I head out. Just a few pictures

My wife never hunted until we were married.  Got tired of being left alone and asked to go and it is still some of my best memories.  She arrowed a beautiful buck that took some years for me to best, and I took my fair share of ribbing over that.  She no longer hunts but still supports my passion.

My wife of 24 years is my fishing, camping and canoeing partner but she doesn't hunt. When we raised goats, chickens and rabbits, she did the slaughter and butchering but she doesn't like to hunt.

That's not all bad because she enjoys doing most of the other camp "work".

Sorry guys but I can't say having my wife or girlfriend hunting with me is something I've ever been too crazy about.  She has supported my endeavors, and she's helped me track and drag but that's about it.  Maybe I just find females too distracting.   :bigsmyl:

That's awesome! Me and wife met fairly late in life, I got her into archery and she elk and turkey hunted several years, some of my best memories and favorite times for us, damn arthritis has taken her out of the field for the last several years though! She had her hip replaced a couple years ago and it's getting better, we had one good spot only an hour 'ish from the house that she should be able to get into so I'm hoping she'll maybe still go a little one of these years!

Took my wife hunting one time. I missed her. Ah just kidding. My ex was a decent partner but she grew away from the outdoor lifestyle. My new girl now tries a little but drives me nuts w her lack of dexterity over everything. God bless ya

Dave, you are truly blessed, Tracey not only shares your passion for hunting but put also she's a darn good bowyer. Most men don't have that privilege but you and I know how wonderful it is. Enjoy every minute, every day and every year my friend.

In some ways I envy some of you.  I grew up in a very different world, where men's and women's roles were sharply defined and divided.  A strong old German farming community, where women cleaned house and baked bread and men worked outside, and never the twain shall meet.   :nono:

I like the fact that I'm the only one in my household that loves to hunt. We each have our own rewards.

On the one hand this embarrassing, but Larry is a complex singer/musician/science nerd, tough guy, more at home in wilderness than home. He sometimes does things that surprise me.

Beautiful song and tribute.  The sentiments expressed in these posts are very touching.  Thanks for them.

My wife has no interest in camping, hunting, guns, or archery, but she has always accepted that I do.

Sounds like you and your wife, all of you who hunt together, make a great team in the hunting woods!

I'm on 43.5 years of marriage. My wife likes to fish (a bit), but has never shown an interest in hunting.  She supports me very much as I hunt and is excited for me when I have a good time, kill something, etc. She has encouraged me to go after some pretty big dream hunts, but then I explain the costs involved.

She has occasionally gone with me to read the newspaper (now iPad) in my truck as I squirrel hunt 100-200 yards away.

My wife has cooked everything I have drug thru the door for 21 years. Love that. She hunted a little and Shot 1 buck before kids. Once they came I was on my own. Now that they are going their own way she ask for a tag this this year. I'm excited.
