That was very interesting! Not sure if he specified grain orientation in that test? I followed the website to see the whole list, noticed he didn't have a sample of Western Yew, I'd put it up against any other wood I've ever worked with.

Wonder if it was kiln dried or not, do you think that would have made a difference?
I believe kiln dried lumber is not as strong and air dried lumber...
I'm sure that was fun for him, but all that info is available in the USDA Wood Handbook. Also to be accurate, he would need to do tests with multiple samples of each species to get an average. I've been following this guy for years, he makes a lot of his own tools :thumbsup:. Butternut was interesting to me because I accidentally made a bow with the stuff thinking it was Walnut!
