I ran into a group of hogs feeding under a persimmon tree in a dry slough
Well I was able to sneak into 18 yards of this one and my arrow flew true. It zipped through her so fast she didn't know what happened! She spun and faced me and stood there for several seconds, I was thinking she might fall over right there but she wheeled and ran about 25 yards and went down. Here's what it looked like under the persimmon tree.

Great job, way to make a scouting trip into pulled pork!
And I was wondering also if you still got persimmons on the ground? Long gone usually before the October opening here.

Congrats Corey

Great job , our persimmons are long gone as well, but when they are dropping it's the place to be.

None on the ground, there were only a dozen maybe left in the tree. They are picking them up as soon as they fall
That's a great shot Corey. I've never seen persimmons like that. Only big bushes.
I'd think a stand hung there might do.
Way to go Corey!
Nice shooting!
Nice Corey!!
NICE. Great shot
Absolutely a top shot right there Basinboy, nicely done indeed.
Nice looking bow too !
What is a Persimmon?
I'm guessing it's some kind of fruit tree?
Is the fruit edible for us humans, or is it just pig tucker?
Is the wood used for anything?
Don't recall seeing or hearing of them over here.

Persimmon does bear edible fruit, although I'd have to Google it to find out what you use it for. But the wood was (and maybe still is?) used for making smoking pipes. It is a very hard and gnarly wood, structure is like tight burls. It was also the primary wood used for golf clubs - the driver and fairway woods, (Hence the term), prior to the switch to metal "woods".

Yes it's a very good fruit when ripe. Wood is used for many things as well as bows. I plan to build a Selfbow out of it someday.
Perfect shot!
Plenty of hogs here in Florida. Where are you? I really need to get me and my equipment sorted. I'm really looking forward to getting out there hunting and hopefully putting some meat in the freezer!
Thanks for the info Basinboy & Noah70,
Always like to learn something new :goldtooth:
Might Google it and see if I can find some here in Aus.
Best to all this Christmas season
Lex
Congrats
