So I generally don't hunt too much this time of year, but I needed to do some work on the hunting property and decided to make a day of it.
As I lowered my bow and hunting pack to the ground, 4 pigs come running in to the feeder.. The thought in my head was "you've got to be kidding me!"
I waited until they all got comfortable eating and then slowly pulled my bow and pack back up. Somehow, all my commotion went undetected by the pigs and I made ready for a shot.
They did a little musical pig jig as I waited for just the right shot. There it was, the biggest of the group and quartering away!
I sent an arrow through both lungs and she shot out of there like a bullet. I thought I had gotten a pass through, but couldn't see my nocturnal at the feeder.
After returning with my truck and lights to start the search, I noticed my lit arrow nock in the distance. She had ran about 30 yards before breaking and shedding my arrow. It was a great thing too as there was nary a drop of blood until after the arrow came out.
In total, she made it about 80 yards with only the smallest amount of blood for about 40 yards or so.
I used my freshly made "Iowa" Mountain Monarch 68@32 with easton carbonwood shafts and VPA 300 grain 3 blade heads.
The pig was an estimated 160 lbs +- and quite round and fat... not unlike the hunter that shot her! :)

Congratulations Jim! She looks like a good eater. Those fat ones sometimes don't bleed as much. Plugs up the holes I guess.
Yes, she is fat! but then, we don't have poor pigs in our part of the country.

Way to go big guy !!
Nice >> Congratulations
Atta boy Jim!
Thats awesome.
We dont have the hogs to hunt up here. From what I understand , that is a good thing. Still a bit jealous of those of y'all that are able to.
I imagine that sucker put a good bit of meat in the freezer.
Do you grind it all, or do chops and hams too?
If I am cutting them up, it's all roast or steaks..
If I have the processor do it, it could be anything.. amazingly inexpensive to have deer or pigs processed down here.
This picture is at a processor and the deer in the background is another hunters.. i don't know the guy.
thanks, BigJim
That's a good one! Nicely done!
