That's gorgeous! What trouble did you have? I have a mill and got the pockets worked out in my head. Going to do a test run on some scrap wood. Thinking a 3 piece riser may be my first couple bows to go with some bolt on and ILF limbs I have. Then move on to laying up laminate limbs.
You are going to really like that mill for making take downs. The small one I have changed the way I do every thing.
I have never done a ILF
Main prob was not having a mill
I don't have much room in shop now or would consider getting one for sure
Gotcha. I plan on making a jig that will hold the riser clamped in with a locating dowels in the area of the riser that will get cut away for the grip. Mill one end, flip it, reinstall and do the other end. The entire jig will bolt down to the mill table and can be removed and set back up easily. Be able to nock out a few at a time.
That's the plan anyway.
I go today to pick up my bandsaw! Pretty excited on that. Got a 2.5 hp 14 inch Hopefully to use for resawimg as well.
That should be a great size. I had a 14" and upgraded to a 17"
The 14 did everything just as good as the new one, I don't cut much more than 6" deep anyway.
I did saw a 10" cherry block with the 17 to see how it worked for a lady who was looking at same saw...
Worked great, just make sure you set it up by the book. Extra time there will pay off!
