I will be heading down to Mexico in mid December. I live on Vancouver island British Columbia and will be travelling through California,Nevada and Arizona. I have some nice yew staves I would like to trade for some Osage. We usually shoot in Phoenix and Tucson mtn on the way down and back. Probably be around Vegas and lake havasu area as well. If you're interested i can pm some pics.
Sounds sketchy, you want to meet in the desert and make a swap?
:bigsmyl:
I would swap an Osage Stave for enough Halibut or Sturgeon skin to back a couple of bows. I would ship to Vancouver.
We just finished up halibut season but I will keep some next year. Sturgeon skin is a little harder to find. In bc unlike Washington and Oregon there is no retention of sturgeon unless you are indigenous. As to meeting in the desert to do a deal we are only the Canadian cartel eh! Pretty harmless. Ha ha. I assume you want the dark side not the white side of the Hali skin? Have seen the white side dyed and it looks cool.
Yes Dark side. Wouldn't be able to meet in the desert, 1200 miles away. But would be happy to ship.

Yeeaaah. Is there an impromptu air strip nearby?
No but there is are 3 nice field courses at the Ben Avery club in pheonix, and at usery mtn in Mesa. Also Tucson mtn in Tucson has 3 great field courses as well. We usually camp and shoot at all 3 on our journeys. There really isn't a great contraband trade in trad archery stuff!

Only if is a couple thousand years old. I didn't know that Avery had archery facilities. I'm wanting to get there for the NMLRA Western Nationals one fine Spring but it's not in the foreseeable future. 😞
Will definitely get you some halibut skins next year Rainman.
Rainman, do you know how much it costs to ship an oversize item to Canada?
It's a killer! If you are going to ship to Vancouver area, send it to Point Roberts WA, it is a short drive from the city.
Anonymous we can work out details opening of next Halibut season.
I have buddies in Seattle that will receive contraband packages like Osage!! They are duallies and have houses here and in Washington state. When the time comes we will ship to and from Seattle. The shipping prices are crazy here. That's why I'm going to stop in Oregon on the way home to pick up some wood shafts.
Where in Mexico are you headed?
Used to spend a bit of time down there pre Nafta
We are going to San Carlos. Doesn't get terribly hot and is very small and quiet. Got one of those broadhead balls we throw out on the sand at the beach and fling away at it. Have a local connection for some javelina hunting, limited area but it's enough to be interesting.
Nice  Driven thru there, very pretty where the desert meets the sea.
