Hello TG,
After several years of procrastination I am taking the plunge with a single string. Been shooting a compound for 30+ years. I reached out via PM to @McDave for some instruction since he was local to me. Dave graciously offered up his time to help me out. Not only that, he invited me, a stranger, into his home to get a new string on my recurve. A string that he made and gave to me. Let me say, his "Man Cave" looked like a small bow shop with all the bows hanging around. Not to mention his backyard 3D course.
We drove to his local course, he gave me some instruction, then we shot a short round. It was a great time and I impressed myself by not breaking or losing an arrow :biglaugh: The El Dorado Bowmen course is very nice, btw.
Anyway, huge thanks to Dave and am looking forward to my single string journey.
Rob
PS: Next time I'll bring snacks for Lupy :)
Sounds like a great day and a great way to start your traditional initiation.
Its pretty lucky to stumble into an experienced trad gang member and get a nice string and some instruction and sage advice.Should shorten your learning curve alot hanging out with a guy like that IMO.
Have fun and best of luck on your journey:)
Enjoy your journey!
Yep, Dave is one of the Good Guys!!!! :notworthy:
Then again, there are a lot of us here.....
Welcome to our Family!!!!

Good you two connected. I've offered to help folks go traditional but it seems to be hard for most to give up the ease of the wheel bow. That and to dedicate the time necessary to become good with it.
Welcome to the fun side!!!!

You are off to a great start. Hope you find the single string fulfilling as most of us do.

She's a dog who remembers everyone who has ever given her a snack since she was a puppy, I think, so do so at your own peril!
I can concur that McDave is a top guy. When I was in San Fran visiting my brother in law I took a trip to Sacramento on a greyhound to meet up and had a great time. I still have and use the draw knife he gave me. :notworthy:
X2 on McDave always giving solid advice and help.
Welcome to tradgang!
