Smokey has been a Sponsor for many years, and he just sent me this to share with Tradgang. This is not Smokey in the video, its a guy that has perfected Wicked Wicks.
Thought it might be of some interest to some of you as its a very unique tactic.

Great video. Thanks!!
Wow, very interesting. I'm going to have to try that out.
Wow, I've never heard of such. I just click to see who Smokey was. :biglaugh:
But you dang skippy I'll be trying this out.
Been using them for years. This was interesting, this buck checked this out the first evening I put it out. No scent except for mine, early August. It does work and is a lot of fun for minimal work involved.

What other scents might work? Vanilla or musk oil?
Very nice to see how he used the knot and wire technique to secure to a branch.
Got to try this and thanks for sharing .
Ozy, you have to use the the pre orbital gland lure. It is designed for making mock scraps, and breaking a limb on a limb on a branch that they can reach. Then someone, not sure who, came up with the rope method.

That is absolutely amazing!!!
Yes it is amazing, and it works,

We don't have whitetails or smokey's here in Australia so I was wondering what else may work. I've tried a couple of wicked wicks for fallow deer with vanilla and musk oils with inconclusive results. I got a few photos of animals sniffing it but certainly nothing that suggests it wasn't just merely checking it out as it walked past.
very good idea I'm going to try it ..thanks for sharing
Wish I would have seen that earlier. I would like to try that but the rope I have smells. Darn
Does anyone know if you have to reapply during the season?
Sorry if I missed that in the video.
I believe he said you don't have to reapply that the bucks would open it back up
We do reapply the scent every 2 weeks or so. Might not need it, but I don't think it hurts. We just try to keep our human scent to a minimum, rubber gloves and boots etc.
This stuff really works!
I met Smokey years ago as a show, and he's a hoot! I've had great results with his scents. Now I can't wait to try this out next year, I don't doubt this method at all.
And you get a cool sticker!!

Dang it! Sideways again!! Anyway, I was going to use a rope. What other ways are you guys using?
I've had the best results with a cotton horse lead. Maybe it holds the scent better?
Do you have a pic?
Fixed it for ya NY.
Thanks T!! :archer2:
Here's what I did.
What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here!?!?!?!
That Bamboozles the mind. :biglaugh:dgdg
