I'm wondering if I can eek a little more FPS out of my bow? It is a Bear Paw Chapman. Just a fairly cheap factory T/D recurve bow, but it shoots nicely and the grip suits me well. I'm using the string it came with, which is the Bodnik Whisper string. I'm just wondering if anybody knows a bit about that string and could recommend somebody to make me (perhaps), a faster string to get a bit more performance from my bow. It is 35#. As I live in Australia, there is not many options to get a fast custom string made here. Any recommendations would be great.

I just looked up the string you mentioned, it's ten strands of fast flight material, I highly doubt you are going to be able in anyway see a increase in speed. Lighter arrows would be a better route to gain noticable speed!
Hi Mr Goat - thanks so much for your reply. Yes, what you said probably just confirmed what I thought. It is a skinny string and I know that Henry Bodnik (his choice of personal string), wouldn't use an inferior product on his own bow. I thought too that they would be FF as well. I guess I'm just greedy - I wanted to squeeze a bit more from my bow, but what I'm getting is still very good. Yes, what you said with the arrows I did a few weeks ago and it made a huge difference. I took off the 5 inch helical fletches and put on 4 inch straight feathers. I took out the RPS inserts and the 125 grain field points and put in a one piece 80 grain target point. In in effect took 65 grains or more weight off my arrows and as said, made a huge difference.
Looks like I have a fast string already, so I'll put that one to rest. Thanks once again.
Cheers

If you wanted to get the max out of that bow, I would recommend using something like Victory Vap 800 spine arrows with 3" feathers, and 100 grain glue-in points. The total weight will come out to be about 272 grains, close to 8 gpp, which is about as low as I would push it for the safety of the bow. If you bare shaft tune, start with them full length and cut them shorter as dictated by your tuning. If not, cut them to 29" and call it good.
Are you using a chronograph to measure the speed or just watching the arrow? Personally I try to find a trade between noise and speed.

I shoot a bearpaw mohawk. Mine also came with the bodkin whisper string in 55". I found after I put a good number of arrows through the bow (1000+) the string stretched significantly. It worked well as a 'stock' string, as it came with the bow.
Be very exact on your serving width, just slightly wider than your fingers,no string silencers, no brass string nock(use tie on).
Quiet and stable trumps a few fps.
Yup.

I would order one from SBD strings (sponsor classified). Tell him what you are looking for I'm sure he will fix you up with a "skinny string". You will never know the benefits unless you try one.
