I heard my first daytime bugle Thursday morning. I did not see the bull only seeing three cows out in the meadow. Which is okay because I can only kill cows and spikes on this unit. The bulls are not into it yet but it will just get better with every day. I always get excited when I hear a bull bugle, it is easy to forget I have a deer tag too.
Good luck to ya.
Called in a 5x5 to under 25 yes yesterday...he came in silent and as usuall kept a little limb infested fir tree between us...then about noon 2 others squealed a few time then went back to sleep...like ya said it should get better each day :bigsmyl: :archer2:
I heard night bugling and first thing in the morning Thursday and Friday, nothing mid day or evening. I'm out for now but will return the 18th to hunt until the season closes. Was great to get into the mountains.
Ok durp, give me the coordinates, I know you won't.
Covered about 5 miles the other day close to home. Saw guite a bit of sign both animal and human.
Glad some of you all are getting some action
Good luck everyone.
Kevin
I heard one weak locator bugle yesterday at sundown, cow called back a little with no effect and then ripped off a locator bugle of my own and got a hearty response of a bugle back, but nothing came in before it was too late to shoot.
KEVIN you would be correct  hope you have a good season
DURP..back at ya brother, :archer2:.
Good luck
Kevin
Good luck folks!
You guys are so fortunate to live where you can see, hear, and hunt those beauties.
I don't envy much, but I do that.
Good luck guys. Unfortunately when I hunted elk all the bugles I heard I am certain were elk wannabes
Called in another one today just before noon again...got one smallish bugle out of him as he hung up in the really thick stuff...that's what I get for hunting in 40 to 50 year old clear-cut :dunno: havin fun non the less :bigsmyl:

Yeah, but I'd sure love to be able to whitetail hunt a few miles from my house, instead of 3 hours, there's closer but no place to camp etc..
Good Luck!
