Gauging from reaction/answers about the harnesses I felt compelled to post this. Guys not only does any harness catch you in a fall but the more importantly prevent that fall from ever happening or at the very least limit the severity.
When sitting, your harness should be snug, no slack. When standing you'll put slack in but you'll still have limited distance to fall. If you do it'll be less distance, less impact on you or your harness. Your family needs you be safe

I take it one step further with a Treestand Wingman descending system, the best 100.00 I ever spent. It automatically lowers you to the ground, even if for some reason you became unconscious. The best thing it it's reusable and you can practice with it. Once you practice with it a few times you will sit in your stand with a new confidence.
