Over the weekend I made a trip to a local hunting store that had cedar arrows in stock. They came fletched and with field tips installed, all ready to shoot. I got them home and inserted one onto my Bear Montana and.... No click... and they fall off unless I keep tension in them between my finger and the knocking point (3 under)
I hunt with my Montana and mainly use carbon arrows and if I were to take a guess and predict the future I'll probably continue to mainly use carbons so I don't want to go to a thicker serving. Is there any solution to my problem that doesn't involve reserving?
Couple things u could try...tape over ur serving, serve over what ya got with dental floss or change nocks
Get a cup of good hot water.
Dip the nock in there for a couple minutes, then pinch the ears of the nock together and hold untill cool.

Sounds like he made them with the old "speed" nocks. They can be replaced with snap-on nocks. I have removed them by gently heating them until the soften and then twisting them of with pliers. You will need to clean up the tapers before gluing on new ones. Just mark the index on the shafts so that the new once can be positioned correctly.
The bohning glue on nocks have great tolerances ,when you heat or bend any nock,it is not ever going to be exactly the same from nock to nock.i have have done for years is I always run a 14 strand string and there is multiple thickness of serving ,my string is fit to the nock and not nock fitting to string,this way every nock will fit perfectly on the string.this can be done with different string counts with some trial and error combinations of strand count and serving size, then record what works and make your string the same each time.this method would have you making your own Flemish strings.no string board needed to make string, it's pretty easy. :archer2:

OR, you said you shoot 3under... You could serve 3-4" for your fingers, and end up top with a tied nock point. :archer:
I just tie on dental floss. All of the glue on nocks I've ever used are bigger than carbon nocks. I've only used them on aluminums.
Just take a pair of pliers and squeeze the ears of the nock a little at a time until they snap on the string.
Do as Woodchucker said but just dip the ears in for a few seconds. Both methods are easy and work.

I did the hot water trick and they are snapping on great. They actually fly great out of the longbow I intended them for. I think they wood ads a little more fun as well.

Just get a 2nd string with thicker serving and switch strings when you switch arrows. Either that, or change the nocks on your wood arrows to ones that will properly fit your current string.

A lot of guys poo-poo the hot water trick but it does work and if you are not heavy handed, there will be no problems.
Been using hot water for 30 plus years. I have done it on every dozen of arrows I have ever ordered. I boil a pot then dip the nock in for 5 seconds then pinch to my desired fit.
Sounds like your arrows have the Mercury speed nocks that do not snap in on the string. You can just replace them with snap nocks. I heat mine with a small candle flame til they just start getting soft and then with some small pliers twist them off. Be gentle and slow
