This one is from 1967, Elm Hall maybe? The bow looks like my Wilson Brothers Black Widow.
Look at that golden pompadour, I must have had some good stuff to keep it in place in the wind.
Anyone else got any oldies to share?

I was still 20 years from being born. Sorry wish I could help. Nice picture though.

I'm just the opposite. Started righty ( still shoot and can) but switched to lefty.
Priceless pics...will add one after my return from Boston this week...
I remember this one. Taken during the first extended season in 1966. I was using St Charles back quivers is those days.

Fun stuff Ron. I've been hunting almost 45 years. It's entertaining to go back and look at some of my old pictures.
BTW....Do you still have that beautiful Randall model 19 that I've been trying to buy off you for the past 20 years?? Lol...
Is that this one ?

THATS the one!!!! You first posted that knife....oh I don't know. WAAAAAAY back in the early days of Tradgang. Like....18-20 years ago... I've lusted after that thing ever since.... LOLOLOL. That's one beautiful knife!! If you EVER feel the urge to sell that thing. PM me!!!!
Did you know it has a compass in the butt and it works. I also still have the original sheath
Ron,
Love old pics! This has nothing to do w your photos, (or maybe it does). But I have a question. After years doing what you do...how do you hook the string? On tips to slip off w ease? near the tips? Medium hook like a long hold target guy? Or deep hook? I have had a year or so layoff and am back shooting. My fingers have no calluses. For some reason a more open hand w the string near the tips is working very well. I don't shoot enough to get sore fingers out there right now. Just wondering what you settled on.
Thanks,
Tedd
Year I was born...
I know! I was born 1957, how things have changed, blows me away

That's very cool!!!. I've lusted over that knife for many years now!. PM me when you're ready to sell that gorgeous thing!!!
Tedd, I learned a lot on shooting style from my years in competitive field and target archery.
To answer your question on how I grip the string, I use a deep hook as do most target shooters. Shooting on the tips of your fingers makes it hard to relax the hand and wrist and transfer your pulling power to your back.
You said it was working well for you so I'd suggest to continue doing what your doing. If it starts not working for you then try the deep hook

These are my favorites. I have one of my Uncle and a family friend. I will do some digging.

Elizabeth Curtis, where have you been? I remember when you first came around, and I've wondered what became of you since you seemed to really enjoy archery.

I've been here a LONG time.... Folks seem to come and go, for various reasons.
But, the real thing is.... "TradGang" is a FAMILY!!! Sooner or later, they all come "home" to the campfire.

This one was from the late 70's, early 80's. I was sneaking along and met this guy coming down the trail toward me. I shot him with my Don Adams English Yew bow 75#@ 28". You can see from the angle of the arrow that it was a frontal shot. We had more than one meal out of him. :archer2:

I am still around, I might not post, but I read! :) I have been sooo busy with work, I am thankful to have a job though. So glad this stupid covid junk is going away. I don't have time to get on the computer much, I have to grab time to get on here when I can. Fighting hard to get time to shoot and hunt, got a blob target finally last year and shoot in my back yard. I am determined to go hunt this year if I have to just go by myself! lol

Gee, Liz!
Looks like shooting a bow, is in your blood!!! :archer2:
WE WAS MOUNTAINMEN, by Ron Laclair
I remember when we was Mountainmen
Seems like it wern't long ago
We was bullhide tough an we played real rough
there wern't a man that we couldn't throw
We shoot light bows now, bad shoulders ya know
so we stalk and we get real near
we hone them arrers till they'll shave hair
an still manage to kill us some deer
We still Rendezvous and we still count coup
but it ain't like it use ta be
our joints is worn and it's hard ta run
when ya got a titanium knee
Then there's them pipes, ya just never know
if they're in the shape they should be
So the Doc he say's, "Son I think it's time
ya got a colonoscopy"
Can't sleep no more on the cold hard ground
since we got that new pastic hip
use ta drink a whole jug round the fire at night
now it's just a few little sips.
The day will come....not far down the road
when they'll wanna put me in a home
They'll say I'm too old ta be out in the cold
to old ta hunt on my own
When they come ta take me to that old folks home
on some cold dark rainy night
They'll sure be surprised when this old Coon say's,
"BOY'S, THAT'LL BE AFTER THE FIGHT"
But if they win an I'm put in
to that fearsome lonely place
ta swaller pills cuz I got the chills
mongst wrinkles on my face
Then remember me, Ya'all that's still free
an hold to the Mountain Creed
To never rest, but fight yer best,
til the ol" coon is finely freed!
