Snake is skinned, membrane removed, drying in my shed. It is wider than the 6 inch board I tacked it to. It was 5 ft long, so it will cover the bow in one piece. If I cut the pretty part out of the center, I will waste a lot of skin. If I split it down the middle I could back 2 bows, but the skins would not be symmetrical. What[attachment=2] do you advise?
Your skin -- your choice. I LIKE the center, and I could find things to make with the side strips; but that's me.

I am different, I always split them, my bows are always around 64" and narrow, the side patterns look just fine on my bows. I shift the skin when I glue it on to center the chevrons down the middle as much as I can.
Like this;
Timber rattlers are one of the few snake skins you can split down the middle and still have a cool pattern on the limbs.
