Today marks the first day since October of last year that I shot a hunting bow. I knew I kept my first hunting bow from my parents for my 13th birthday for some reason.
. It's a Shakespeare Wonderbow, 40# recurve. I need to build up my strength but it sure was good to fling some arrows again.
I did try a very few from some of my other bows- I discovered I do have a long ways to go yet
Trying to take it slow.
Awesome, but yes take it slow or you could end up going back to square one.
Congrats on puttin' some in the air again!!! Slow & easy does it... enjoy.

Great to hear as mentioned take it easy you are on the mend that is the important part.
My best for a speedy and complete recovery !
Congrats! That bow has been waiting to help you all over again. Good mojo from your folks, too.
I knew there was a reason for having all these bows!
Killdeer :goldtooth:
Excellent
Nice!
Excellent...

MnFn, it is good to hear that you are now able to shoot a hunting bow again. Just continue to take it slow and easy, and you will be back in good form in due time. Congratulations on your progress so far.
Good work you old duffer. :biglaugh: That bullseye looks like its danger to me. ha keep at it...
Thanks you guys and gals. This is a special place.

Great! You know those Stickflingers shoot themselves!
You have a good eye there, Craig. The Stickflinger is an easy bow to shoot well.
The problem I have is I feel like I'm cheating on the the other two bows when I only take one of my three favorites out to shoot. 😁
A Black Widow MA, Tall Tines Stickflinger, and a Northern Mist Ramer. They all have endearing qualities.
If I get to go bear hunting next spring, it will be a tough choice.
As mentioned above, Take it slow and easy....
I will going thru the same process as soon as my target gets here.... :archer2:
I will take it easy and slow. But it is not easy. Working out with two 25 lb weights used to be no problem a few months ago. Now, nearly impossible to do any significant number of repetitions. I am up to 6 whole lbs for various curls as we speak.
I do thirty reps for each exercise.
Of course a number of well meaning people have suggested I just get a cross bow. Not happening. Shooting Longbows and recurves are an important part of my life and well worth the effort to get back to where I was. I fully expect to be shooting my low 50 lb bows, in time.
I'm not one to use weights....
Pulling a Bow is more fun....
When I was shooting in tournaments a lot, A shoot was 84 shots, So I trained myself to shoot my Big 5, 52@ 29 200 hundred times....
A lot of people get tired and don't do as good on the last few targets, I was just getting warmed up....
Now like you I got to start over, My Tembo is 45@29, I'll be using it....
I would hate to see your other bows get Jealous. Just send me your stickflinger. You don't need that drama in your house .
Glad you are healing well. You'll be back to flinging arrows from heavier bows before the Fall of 2021, hopefully. Stay Well!
Glad to see you are getting back in action!
