Title: Memory Lane
Post by: 1whitetail1 on April 25, 2021, 02:15:49 PM
Yesterday on one of my book shelves I found a 1969/1970"Archers Bible". This is a Kittredge Bow Hut archery catalog. 190 pages. Wow what memories from my younger days. It is full of recurves by: Ben Pearson,Hoyte,Damon Howatt,Groves,Browning, Jack Howard, Bear, Browning,Root,York,. And many pin sights for recurves. It seems like most people back then had sights on their bows. And the prices! Bear Super Kodiak- $135,Bear Kodiak Hunter,$90, Bear Grizzly $70, Bear Razor Heads $7.95 Dz Ben Pearson Dead Heads $7.00 DZ,MA3 Broad heads $3.75 DZ. Those were the days. I did not have any money back then but it was fun to dream.

Oh yeah! Those were better than the Sears Christmas catalog for a young guy I knew.

Yeah, those old  catalogs were great. Herter's was always one of my favorites. Now, most of us do our window shopping on-line. Somehow, it's just not the same.

My first hunting arrows came from them. Still have one of the wooden nickels.

I practically taught myself to read with the Herter's catalog.  About all a poor farm boy could do was look and dream.

Great memories indeed. I have an old Anderson Archery catalog from the late sixties. If only we could still buy some of those bows at those prices !!

I still have one of the Screaming Eagle catalogs from when Paul Brunner owned the company.

I still have and use my Kittredge serving tool- I, too, sloppered over that catalog.  And, Herter's too.  Model perfect this and that.  Owned one of their bows, a knife, pair of binoculars and (they were terrible) both aluminum and fiberglass arrows.
