I've always thought that you want to place the string on the tip of your fingers when pulling the bow back to allow for a smooth release. The new bow I got has to small of a shelf and unless I put the string in the crease of my fingers the arrows fall off the shelf. My release does not feel as smooth. any thoughs.
Either cant the bow a little further, or get used to the deeper hook. There's nothing wrong with a deep hook (actually, in the first finger joint isn't that 'deep') butit will take a little getting used to. Try holding at your reference point for just a little longer & relax your string hand. If you keep increasing your back tension right through your anchor, as you relax your hand, the tension in your back should give you a nice, smoothe loose.
thanks for the advice. I'm going to the bow range tonight and will give that a try. I quit canting my bow so much and my consistency has got much better.
