has anyone used a little ripper? it can be used as a mini saw mill with your bandsaw up to 8 foot logs diameter depends on saw. you can see it on you tube. what do you guys think about it? it is a little pricey
I looked at it a while ago. It is pricey. I don't know about cutting 8' logs on the bandsaw though. My saw can cut up to 12" in height but there's no way I'm going to lift a log that size onto it. Even if it's 4' long, it would be pretty heavy. I would also worry about my saw's stability with a heavy piece like that on it. If it's not bolted to the floor, it can be pushed over. A chainsaw mill might be a better idea.
Just my 2 cents.

I cut mostly 4 foot logs and use a guide for my chainsaw and waste as much as i keep. a mill and a bigger chainsaw might be the way to go. that ripper looks like it would make some nice cuts
Check out YouTube. There are several videos on making a bandsaw sled for milling small logs.
