I'm beating the crap out of them.
They held up better than my arms did in Texas this week! :)
How many men can get-away with that title????
Wow... no one wants to post???? Chicken Shites?
Matt from Thorogood Thorogood Boots says your arms are as big as his legs.... i don't believe it.
Look skinny to me....

Oh and by the way Green! When your wife has killed more than Ron La Clair chances are you ain't no pussy/pansy. :)
And what does my wife have to do with your noodles?????
175 grainers a tad stiff.. 1 out of 8 kick left. ... stiff.... moving to 225s.
I'm glad someone is feeding Denny.
I'm borderline over spined. ....
But I ain't hungry.

Terry, I'm eating just fine, but it is a little tough chewing with this old buck. Noodles???
Much like Mr. Paradox, above, I have no idea what you guys are talking about but it's too windy to shoot so keep 'em coming.
But ................... you call that blood ??? My arms bleed more than that just from LOOKING at CatClaw. :biglaugh:
I am glad someone finally made white front arrows shafts. Been saying forever the black carbons are hard to see. Fred Bear knew that.[attachment=1]
I am about to order some of those 3 rivers shafts. So with a BW recurve that is 60@31 the .300 should be right? (Using 250 gr head.)

Sunny Hill.... i ain't fraid of you either big guy....
More in the morning......
Sounds like a little good natured bantering going on, I'm enjoying it keep it up. I'm guessing it may have something to do with testing out some arrows??
Jason
:biglaugh: From what I've heard, Tarz ain't scared of anything.
I heard tell from a friend of the real source years ago that a St Jude's hunt winner would not go into the nasty dark and thick area of swamp to pursue a hog that sounded like a Grizzly bear. So T went in and killed it, and the guy didn't even want to go in and help him drag it out it.

That's cuz she gets to hunt more than me and she's a better shot than me and Denny both.
Is this a big arm contest?
[attachment=1]
Well I heard about the auction winner that went to the Cohutta Wilderness bear hunting. The guy was seemingly afraid of his shadow and could not help but hunt by the side of the road. I also noticed that after these two hunts Terry didn't offer anymore. And i can certainly understand.
Stay after them Terry...

Hey Green, I can still run 5 miles and actually work out a couple times a week. You sure you want this son?
You always know Ron is scared when he starts trash talking...... :smileystooges:
We also tested them on late season does.
And early season does.

What??
I don't really know what started this "War of The Words" saga, but I do know one things - You guys ain't wrapped too tight!
Roger Rothhaar was a huge inspiration for the color design of these shafts. He painted the front end of his carbon arrows a light gray to aid in aiming.
Paul Jalon made me some shafts for a selfbow that I shot 3 does with in one day. I remember looking down them in low light and easily getting a great sight picture.
I am digging this post! Come on sissy boys, keep it going!
Sam it's obvious you don't know my and Dennys history. First off we are good friends and our good natured banter is something we have been doing for years and it's all in good fun.....no animosity between us.
Denny's a lot younger than I am so I can't keep up with him anymore but I can pretend that I can.

This is good stuff right here, would love to see you all in a room together, pretty sure everyone would be sore the next day from laughing so hard. Denny, I like the color combo on Marie's arrows with the doe. I just finished up some Doug Fir shafts that are similar in color for my Elk hunt in September.

I've been fortunate enough to hunt Cape and water buffalo several times. The best penetration I experienced was with Axis sized shafts. The finish on the new barebow shafts is the best I've seen. They are made in the USA by Easton too.

When I first met Terry he tried to shoot like G Fred
his swing draw made him shoot like Gomer instead
After changing his style I got him shooting like me
Now he claims that he's the best that he can be
BS Ron... I always gave you credit for the 'missing link". Its even documented here.... on Tradgang.... not denying that. I think I was 3 years-old when you gave it to me...
The 'pre point' you told me... and it worked. That also improved my swing draw to the point of killing multiple charging hogs, pheasants, a running angora, and a reverse cant trotting hog... got witnesses on all.... plus many other non witnessed moving shots.
Thks... to you AND Fred G.... Respect...
Ok, now.... that being said, I'm in the process of acquiring Styrofoam Inc. All stock options are already 'pre sold' . Better luck next time. :goldtooth:
I stopped a charging Hog with a brain shot from a 90# Hill style bow
All I see is a lot of puffery. Gotta say it's making me hungry for the fight. So let's quit the growling and posturing and fight already. Or don't this is fun too I guess but just seems to me the little buck is gonna walk away without any broken tines.
Is this what you want?

I dunno .............. I'm kinda hoping this goes on 'til deer season opens up.

The Traditional Only Barebow shafts are available in spines from 700 to 260. The 300s and 260s have been on backorder, but should be in stock by the end of the month.
We've been scouting and practicing for the upcoming Michigan turkey season.
I agree Denny.
Them powder burners are cheating.
I'm thinking they like messing with their ramrod?
Hey Ron;
How cool would a Fourth of July photo of that powder flash be with a combo red, white & blue filter ????
:bigsmyl:
I reckon I missed it, are the arrows for sale?
Yes they are.
But I'm sure they will need to be reflected.
The hard part will be finding them in the woods.
Great Stuff guys!
QuoteI always figured flintlocks were real nice for the high-tech guys..
Ya well I always though carbon arrows and fast flight strings was a lot more high-tech than flintlock smooth bore guns. Flintlock guns are to gun hunting like self bows are to bow hunting, recreating hunting with the kind of weapons our fore-fathers used

Great pictures, Ron...
Having said that Denny ole buddy I've decided to go High-tech this spring I ordered a dozen Axis Traditional carbon arrows weighted up front tipped with 145gr Jager two blade heads. I'll be shooting them out of my Shrew Classic Hunter Siberian Tiger bow with a "Whisper" string.

Sorry guys.....been covered up for two weeks....dove into a project to help support TradGang. Will be making a post today. I am bringing back the most popular Tradgang design for Shirts and Hoodies.... and MANY other items..... Beware, it features Ron LaClair.....
I did take some time to get out an shoot for a break from this computer. The arrows are holding up well. Wouldn't hesitate to hunt with them at all. The only issue I had was I got a little kick every once and a while on unorthodox shots. So, moved from my standard 175 grain heads to 225s. All sure seems to be well now.
Kenny, yes ...... there are some arrows for sale. :goldtooth: Not sure but I thinks is a joint venture kinda thing between Denny and 3 Rivers. Denny being involved gives some pretty good credibility.
Great thread guys. Good to see some fun after all the madness we've gone through. And STILL are!!! :clapper:
I'll be looking into these arrows. Where are they being sold?
This thread is straight gold .
Just a good natured effort trying to stir the pot, but is it possible that you are ALL candy asses? What ya say, guys?

OK, here's my report so far on the Traditional Only Barebow arrows.....
They are shooting really well out My 55# Super Shrew and are the 400 spine. The only issue I had was I got a little kick every once and a while on unorthodox shots. So, moved from my standard 175 grain heads to 225s. All sure seems to be well now.
At the moment, they are holding up really well taking a beating with Judos.
I'm either shooting Judos or Bheads, hardly ever shoot field points at all..... as you can see in the pic below....
[attachment=1]
That peg stood out really nice in the sun on that grey background and these we the 1st 5 shots I took with them...
[attachment=2]
Wouldn't hesitate to hunt with them at all at this point, but I'm gonna keep banging on them for now.
This is a Denny Sturgis Jr / Three Rivers venture..... give em a look...

Not sure if it was the "Glamour Shots With Gandalf" pics or the "Hans and Franz Gonna Pump You Up" in their girly-man home gym posts but I just ordered a test kit of these shafts from 3Rivers. Looking forward to trying them out. Been shooting Beman Center Shots but they're now discontinued. The toughness factor wasn't really a selling point for me as I've never had much trouble with any of the carbon shafts I've shot but the white color has me intrigued. I'm not a gap shooter but I can see the light color helping in low light conditions and especially hunting dark colored critters like hogs or bears. Maybe once I've tried them out I'll post a review in the Arrow Games thread. Rock on shooters!

Thanks for all the input. I should have known it wouldn't go over well. But thats ok. It just seems as a manufacturer that if some % of traditional archers see the arrow in their sight picture that you would consider that in the arrow finish.
Now as far as seeing the arrow, I think I improved when one day I decided it's ok to use the arrow for left and right. It's there in my picture, may as well use it. I can not use it for elevation. I just can't see it clearly enough. So I could never be target archer accurate!.
My ideal arrow would be a GT, .204 ID with their light wood grain color on the front of the shaft. The back 7" would be white. (you could leave it white or use 1 coat of cap dip for other colors). With a GPI of about 9 for a .340 spine.
What would be your ideal carbon shaft?
Tedd
Been reading a bit about these, and it wouldn't matter to me if they were white or not. Seems people are liking them pretty well.
Anyone killing anything with them?
Wait just a minute.... Denny, do you still shoot a 90# longbow???
