Just landed in Texas for the opener of turkey as well as looking for my first Javelina. Will be hunting a friend's 20 plus thousand acre place with very little pressure of any kind, I will be hunting with my new to me via classifieds, Timberghost 56" recurve and a quiver full of Axis trads tipped with Treesharks and a couple Simmons Safaris and maybe a Centaur Battleaxe. Will try to post daily updates as long as service is good. Been waiting for this day a long time!
Thanks for involving us! I really like it when we get to follow along!
Great.... looking forward to it... hatchet heads are best on javies!!!! Keep us posted.
Good luck! Turkeys are a blast and javis are Gods gift to a stalking bowhunter!!!

Story?
In.
Well today was fun but no arrows launched. My wife missed a gobbler with wheelie bow and stalked a couple javies. Located about 8 jakes and gobblers just before dark. Hope for a good hunt in the morning.
Good luck!

Good luck to you sir! Can't wait to "hear" some stories and see some pictures!
Sweet looking bow. Good luck.
Had plenty of turkeys fly down close this morning but they did not like my setup. Had to use a doghouse blind which I did not care for. Found a few Javies but they disappeared before I could get the right wind for a stalk. Spent the midday running and gunning with the scattergun than back to Javelina hunting before dark. So far my only archery shot has been a missed attempt at a late night skunk. Probably good that I missed. Hoping the Javelina come out in the morning where I saw them today.
You scatter some corn out and they'll come.
Nothing spotted this morning on my corned road, except lots of deer. Do you guys who have done this before generally corn a few spots and drive back and forth to check them? Or just one and sit and glass it? Way too thick here to see something not on the road.
The shed hunting is unreal though! My wife holding sheds we bumped into first two days
That's the best part. We found them like that too. Around feed pens where they jump in and out. Pretty cool.

Normally corn a lot of roads then drive around till you spot them. Javelina aren't usually early risers. Mid morning till late evening seemed best.
Once they find it they will hit it hard.

Good stuff so far. Good luck
This is great.... love it!!!
Well had some good luck and bad luck. Got a flat but also got go stalk my first Javi. Buried a arrow midship. Now to be patient..... Oh and got a few bloody arrows from a 6 foot rattler!
Wow, that is a lot of sheds. I only found two on my javelina hunt last weekend.
Lots of fun today. Going out with the thermals for coyote now. Will catch up with you all in the airport tomorrow!
So on the 3rd morning I was watching a stretch of corned road all morning with no luck. I decided to try out my Javelina call I had brought. I got tucked into a tree along a Ditch and started squalling. It wasn't long and a yote cane running in to under 10 yards where I proceeded to miss it. A minute later another boogied in and i shot under that one! After I saw how much fun that was I went to another spot that afternoon and called another in and proceeded to miss that one too!!! Later on we were driving along and I spotted a 6 foot rattler and decided to put a couple arrows in him. My grandson requested turkey feathers and snake rattles for a souvenir from the trip.
The next morning after my turkey hunt I pulled in to where I have been Javelina hunting and quickly spotted 2 on the road 200 yards down. Stalk on! Then I realized all my broadheads were dull from the snake incident. I quickly pulled out my sharpener and went to work. While I was sharpening a javi walked out about 50 yards away. I quickly started after it and got within 10 yards. I drew back about 3 times and it kept changing angles before I could shoot. When I finally shot it must have spun and i hit it dead center angled back and down. Guts! I quietly left and gave it 6 hours. 4 of us cane back and tried to track. After 2 hours we had made it 50 yards. The worrisome part was no buzzards circling. We had left a dead rabbit down the road a hour before and there was 50 buzzards there. My wife and I breed Drahthaars and Teckels and we had friends with us who owned some of our puppies. I said this is dumb lets stop boogering up the track and lets put Minnie on it. Minnie is a pup from my wife's dog Molly who died a little over a year ago. We took her to last blood and she immediately took the track about 50 yards to a culvert and started to bristle up. Well I got on my knees and tried to look in there and this is what I saw!
A little belly crawling and j had my prize! Trust the dang dog!! We just thought it may be too hot for them. Dumb!
All in all and awesome trip with great friends, great food, and great memories!
Congratulations! That's a big javelina and rattler.
