Title: Spring Gobbler "bow trials" have started...
Post by: Longrifleman on March 07, 2021, 07:25:19 PM
...In the running this year are 4 ladies- a 48" Bear Super Mag, a 52" Bear Kodiak Mag, a 56" Schafer Silvertip recurve, & a 58" Widow PCH X... I like to use my shorter bows when sitting on the ground-so, whoever is kindest to me from that position gets to go hunting! So far, the Schafer wants to go more than the others!!

What are you guys thinking of using to chase the toms around when the woods start greenin' up?

I use a 56-inch Bear Takedown mostly, but alternate it with a 56-inch Bighorn TD, both in mid 40s, for turkeys.

:archer2: 54" Black Widow PCH with Gold Tip 400's and 175gr 2 blade Grizzly single bevels or 175gr 3 blade VPA's. Haven't made my mind up on broadheads yet both fly great.

I'm gonna take my new "Moss Green" mag-handle Bear T/D (56")

It's got a hole for a string tracker under the grip. I've never used one before but heck, there's a first time for everything!!?? :dunno:

Lots of good choices there! I don't currently have anything under 60" unfortunately, but the thought has crossed my mind again recently just for turkeys. I had a 54" Thunderchild that I had just for that purpose but unfortunately sold. For everything else I prefer longer bows, and just got a 62" PSAX that I am in love with so will most likely be taking it to the blind though something shorter is certainly more maneuverable.

I will be taking my Javaman Elkhart 56", 45#.  With my D&M custom carbons tipped with a 175 grain 3 blade Woodman Elite broadheads this set-up should be the "cats pajama's"!  :archer2:

I'll be using a 66" Sunset Hill, cedar arrows, 50 grain insert adapters, 175 grain two blade broadheads, and my surround view blind.  Can't wait until May to start chasing some thunder chickens.

I've never been turkey hunting (with trad equipment or otherwise). My brother-in-law is trying to talk me into it...
