Title: Hummingbird Bows
Post by: 2fletch on March 05, 2021, 07:12:04 AM
I  had a good conversation with Linda Graham yesterday. She is  a fine person and a very good archer. It's always good  chatting with her.. It looks like Hummingbird is going to continue making those great bows. ( I have said many times that of the 10 best shooting bows that I have shot, most of them were Hummingbirds.) That's a relief to me since I don't have one right now..

She will be partnering with James Parker, a good bowyer and  flint knapper, who is well known in the trade. Wow! some of my favorite people working together to make those great bows. Can't wait to see some bows and shoot one.  :archer2:

That's great news!  I hunt a friend's small farm near their shop.  I had a Kingfisher recurve that was a great shooter, but I sold it when I got more into longbows.  Hummingbirds were well crafted, beautiful bows.  Glad to hear Lynda is keeping the tradition going...

Hey, Don, I know James is qualified but can Linda put up with him. :o     :banghead: I've known James for about 30 years and James is one of the most talented bowyers I've ever known, from a simple stick and string to the most complicated Asiatic horn bows(he has meticulously built every variety) to all wood, wood/bamboo to glass lam bows and his flintknapping is literally world class. I've known of Hummingbird bows about as long from the good old days when Linda and Ben and Hummingbird Bows  would be at Elberton and Hickory.  Good luck to them in this endeavor.

Pat B, you said it well. The two of them have a lot of talent  If you ever shot a course with Linda, you probably lost to her. She was so nice, however, that you probably didn't mind. She worked with Ben to produce these wonderful bows, and was a valuable, and refined, sales partner. James is a survivor with great experience and talent as a bowyer and knapper. I pray that they can make this work, and look forward to shooting one of their first bows. I started with a 56# Hummingbird recurve back in the 90's, my last one was 45#, and now I'm looking for a 40# recurve to shoot in the Senior Games.
