The Buck Hollow Tennessee Pre Spring Fling is being held February 26th, 27th and 28th.
Hope to have an opportunity to meet several Trad Gangers at this nice event.
Can't wait! I have never been to Buck Hollow, but have heard good things.
Here's hoping for some lovely weather.
Scott,
Hopefully we can cross paths touring the event :coffee: :campfire: Ole PossumHead, Pascagoula Archer, and myself plan to attend. The F. R. O. G team would love to shoot around with you.
Look for the HedgeHunter with a selfbow. Running and gunning for the big $.
Shawn~
Smag, am hopeful that I will be able to recognize you...
Hope to see you to Scott. I made it to the shoot last year and although I was a long way from my stomping grounds I met some great people and even saw a couple I knew.
Look for the selfbow with deer blood still all over it from my hands Scott. Not sure what days im going? Gil and maybe Tracy coming with and anyone else I can stuff in my rig.
Shawn~
Planning on being there unless the weather turns for the worst :archer2:
I am looking forward to this shoot also Scott, I hope we cross paths some where along the trail!
gm.
My wife and i plan to attend
Sounds as if the possibility of meeting several of our fellow brothers and sisters is quite probable.
If I am fortunate enough to meet just one of our Trad Gangers, the event will have been most fulfilling.
My family and I are making plans to go. We went last year and loved it. Great bunch of guys at Buckhollow.
Think several of us like Cast Iron and others here have supported BH from their very 1st shoot a few years ago. Really nice piece of Tennessee ground this club is on. They put lots of work into the place and we all really do like the folks. Hope god blesses us with unusually warm weather for the weekend.
As we get closeer to the date we will give you an update on which footgear to bring, mud boots, cold weather boots or day hikers.
Shawn~
Thank you Smag...
Bring mud boots. We got 6-8" snow on ground now with very warm weather coming soon. So, it will be purty muddy around parking areas etc.
If I were BH I would order 20 ton of gravel because after frozen and heavy traffic, the gravel on top now is gonna go 6" down after ground thaws on Mon-Tues.
Bring a set of clean shoes for driving as well.
Shawn~
Smag...thank you for the update...
If my brother-in-law can't go, I may be in my little fwd car. Should I have any trouble getting in or out of parking?

You will be fine fwd is better than a rear wheel drive. Plenty 4x4 trucks to help if you get stuck :bigsmyl:
No worries about getting stuck. It will be a little soft however after snows and rain coming in this week. Weather report looks real good for the shoot weekend as of now highs in 50's lows in mid 30's. For February that's about what we have here in Tennessee and that's mighty fine arra slingin weather.
Shawn~
Still got a week to go. Weather report today for 27-28th Feb is wet. Friday 26th is lookin OK right now with highs in mid 40's. We got about 7" of snow and ice on ground in Clarksville, TN (20Feb21) and 12 degrees out. I think snow will be gone by Wed 24th. The ground i can assure you will be SOGGY come the weekend.
Bring boots with AGRESSIVE tread, Rubber be best. Gonna be a Hoot. Bring plenty Arrow's.
Shawn~
Looking forward to it! Hope to meet everyone while there
Looking its gonna be really nice on Friday in 50's. Sat and Sun looking like frog breeding weather. But it may slide to the right later that week. We can hope. This week is looking glorious. Going to be 53 today in Clarksville, TN. So the snow will be about gone by this evening and it we dont get any rain this week it may dry up a good bit!!
I've left my schedule flexible so I can take off work Friday if the weekend is going to be a wash. This will be my first Pre-Spring Fling...but I've heard good things!
:archer2:
Tentatively planning to be there Friday and Saturday.
My wife and I are driving down Thursday from PA, plan to set up our wall tent, can we set up Thursday night or should we get a hotel and arrive Friday morning?
Prolly will. Im sure vendors will be coming all Thursday.
Smag~
Thank you
Nashville weather tonite has shifted some. Call for rain and showers now for weekend. It may slide to the right but 1700hrs report 21Feb has starting on Friday.
Still be a good time Either way.
Smag~
New weather update. Rain coming in late Thursday nite thru Wed 04 March. May change but that Monday 22 Feb upDATE.
HH~
Tuesdays report for weekend.
Smag~
Like to day weather report is better but it is what it is.
Smag~
Wed report
:banghead:
Yep, sucks. Was drying out too. We had our PSF yesterday and went and shot. Was glorious weather. To bad this dang frog gigging weather couldn0t hold off a day or two. I think vendors love rain outs cuz they sell a lot of stuff!!!
Smag~
I am headed that way early in the morning.
My son and I are planning on coming down around lunch tomorrow! I'll probably come back with some buddies for Saturday.
I've heard lots of good stuff about Buck Hollow, especially the Pre-Spring Fling. Can't wait to experience it myself.
Rubbing some bees wax in my selfbow now. Gonna take Halfa-Holler with me over to Vanleer, TN. Seems fitting, since Booger gifted me the wood then it gave up the ghost. Now, I put a new limb on it so. . . . I call it Half a Holler.
I go whaller in the mud for a bit. Rain has not started here in Adams, TN yet. Aint holding my breath, got my wet weather gear and plastic arrow cover bag ready. Should be fun.
Shawn~
Received word of a family emergency five minutes before we walked out the door. Thankfully it didn't end up like it could have. Hope I can still make it for Saturday.
Weather was ok Friday. Only wet for a hour. Sat lookin good warmer in 60s and be dry most the day.
Smag~
We've got four of us rolling out this morning. Looks like the weather will cooperate through mid-afternoon at least. :archer2:
Rained last nite. Soggy today. Be a greasy SOB today but in mid 50's. Showers went thru at 0600-0800. Prolly more all day
HH~
First trip to Buck Hollow is in the books. Our group had a blast!
I'll post some pics after we get home.
Thanks to the Buck Hollow folks for putting on such a great event. This was awesome!

I love going out and shooting, but having my son go out and having fun flinging arrows is the best part of it all! When y'all put on these shoots, it's not just a fun, competitive event, it's an opportunity to make memories that will outlast scorecards and all of the rest.

On this particular target, my son said, "I'm going to shoot the wolf. That way we can save the deer...so we can shoot it ourselves!" Kids bring a whole new level of fun to this stuff with their imagination. They don't just see airbrushed foam standing there!

We had a big shooting group! Seeing these kids out enjoying traditional archery and being out in nature is so awesome.
The adults shot too!

Thanks again to the Buck Hollow crew. You all put on a great event, and the special challenge targets were awesome! Our bunch had a great time, and I shot my best score ever. Even got to briefly speak with Smag out on the course. Always good to see a fellow Trad Ganger.
Already looking forward with anticipation to this event next year.
As they say "its good to be seen". Was an interesting course. Got to see all the folks after a long hunt season. They had biggest crowd there they ever had for sure. Put a lot of work in this shoot in bad weather. Props to the Buck Holler Gang.
I know that little Selfbow I just finished laid down a great score. Was impressed how it performed.
Shawn~
Enjoyed a wonderful outing both Friday and Saturday. Will be looking forward to returning.
Thank you Buck Hollow.
Saw ya fer a second Scott even talked Stump. Think I only saw ya once maybe last year so we are off and running 2021. Gil had a good time and shot purty darn well. Saw Brad and Scotty K as well as a bunch of other folks we have not seen much last year. I missed Cheeseburger but CoonHead said he was there and looked purty rough from what the China Virus did to him awhile back.
Lost and broke no wood shafts and that place was a arrow graveyard.

Proud dad moment: My son placed second in the Cub division! He was losing steam on the second 20, but he powered through.
And congrats to smag on placing in self bow. May be some other TG fellas on here that I don't know by their actual name.
Wow, those are some krazy scores right there. Rather, some are. I shot it and did not think there were any 390's out there or better.
