Title: Cold Weather Gloves
Post by: LA Trapper on December 30, 2020, 10:58:22 PM
Other than a muffler, anything out there other than the standard wool over the cap mittens?  I  have used them for years.  I re-read the cold weather gloves from the archives hoping to find something.  January in LA is cold and wet.  Wet we can fight.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TRAD GANG!!!!

I'm still on the lookout.

I have a pair of merino liners from First Lite, and try to keep my hands inside the kangaroo pocket on my Sitka jacket.

That setup works great, until I have to remove my hands from the pouch!

You guys should try Air Force pilot gloves (Nomex and leather).
They keep your hands warm and you still retain some dexterity. The long cuff tuck nicely under your sleeve or arm guard.

Ive found the manzella gloves do a wonderfull job.  For their lack of bulk they keep my hand surprisingly warm . For the real cold days wear them plusnkeep ands in a muff when time xomes to remove hand from the muff the gloves keep your hands more than warm enough.  Cut the finger hole in a tab alittle larger and good to go.

Do you want serious warmth, or dexterity, cause you're not gonna get both in one product.    :saywhat:

I use the Marino wool 200 weight gloves from Kuiu with fingerless wool gloves over them and a thin 3 finger shooting glove between. I have used this for several years works great.

I use Icebreaker merino wool liner lightweight gloves and surplus military wool fingerless gloves over them. I also use disposable handwarmers in my jacket pocket as needed.

I buy military issue wool glove liners.  You can just google that and find them.  They are real wool, pretty cheap and made in the USA.  I use leather work gloves over them.  You can get them with fingers or fingerless.  I use them most for coyote hunting (shotgun or rifle) this time of year (in Indiana).  Pretty bulky for a bow, but I bought a pair of the leather gloves that were way oversized and they slip off like mittens.  Took a bit of experimentation to find the size (of liner and leather glove) that will slip off, but leather over wool is hard to beat once I got there.  Super warm, windproof, cheap, silent, made in the USA.

Winter golf gloves work great for me. Can actually wear them under my shooting glove as well as on my non shooting or bow hand. Search on line or at your local golf pro shop.
