Hey all,
My son is 4 years old. I ordered him a 36" mad dog pup longbow for Christmas. What arrows are your kids, grandkids etc. shooting? I'm not too concerned with spine, just want something light enough that will stick in a foam target. I thought about making him arrows out of 1/4 inch dowels, but not sure how that would work out.
Thanks, Matt.
My boys both shoot PSE Razorbacks, they come in a few different spines. My boys shoot the 28" 1200 spine model and they shoot fantastic. My 5 year old went from went from bouncing arrows off 3D targets to having them stick in every time. They have also been quite durable.
Cheers
Buy some light spined POC from Wapiti Archery. They have a Kids Corner under their Products. Here is their website & phone number.

3 Rivers sell arrows for kids.
I bought the 3 rivers arrows for my wifes PUP.
Thanks guys.
I bought 100 1/4 inch birch dowels for around 30 dollars and components for them from 3 rivers. Not all of the dowels were arrow quality but cutting them for the boys to 20" made lots of them work.
I picked up some youth Easton arrows off of 3 rivers for my kids Mad Dog bows. But you will probably want to get a new string right away. His strings come very thin on his youth bows. Had some standard weight strings made up.

These are what I got for my grandsons and they smoke out of these bows
I bought the razor backs. They seem to be perfect. Light and a sharp point. Thanks.
My boys have a Maddog pup recurve and longbow. I've done dowels, Doug Fir from Surewood Shafts and the PSE Razorbacks. I have to say the razorbacks definitely work best with the light bows.
I'm having a heck of a time getting pictures to load but my daughter and I just fixed up a dozen dowels with self nocks. She watercolor painted them first which was a real thrill for her. She is 3.5 and at this point aiming is not much of a thing so dowels with 2" feathers that fly far are a hit. They dont even have proper points but she loves them. Best part, they cost about .50c a piece so I dont mind when they are sent to kingdom come while we are out stump shooting.
