I have recently went down in poundage and would still like to shoot my Woodsman heads. I am shooting a JK Traditions longbow 53# @ 28, but my draw length is only 25. I never had any trouble with my 60# recurve but wondering about others experience with the woodsman and shooting 45# with a short draw length
My grandson is 12 his bow is 40# and his draw length is short also, he is probably pulling 35#. Kiefer has killed 3 adult deer (two bucks and a doe) in the last 3 years using a Wensel Woodsman. I think they are the best head for a light bow .
Yes, for a lower draw weight bow, I would think a long slender 3 blade would penetrate just fine. Woodsman or VPA.
I hunt with Woodsman broadheads with a 47# bow, which is about what you would be pulling after you factor in the difference in draw length. Because of the 3 blades, it is more important than ever that they be sharp. I use the wood block with two offset files, but a quick glance at the internet didn't come up with them, so they might not be available anymore. Plenty of other methods out there, though.
You will be fine. Get them sharp and go hunting.
