Been out early and late so I thought I would try a midday hunt. Was going to still hunt a bit but it was to warm and the spiders are having a convention in the area. Webs all over and they are huge! So are the spiders, so I found a good looking spot to sit. Acorns near by, a scrape under an overhanging branch, nice blow down to break up my out line !! But alas , the deer are still doing social distancing it appears!! Maybe when it gets cooler.......
Nice update Ron. I've been following your relocation adventures from afar.
True about spiders. Not sure if those writing spiders actually bite, but I'm not giving them the chance to find out over in West GA. :o
Keep at it Ron. I've seen zilch so far also.
Hang in there, Ron!!! :archer:
Good to hear you're out there trying, Buddy. It's been too warm and quiet back up here so far. It should start getting better in the next couple weeks :archer2:
Good to hear from you guys, hope y'all have a good season !! :archer2::campfire:
Man... I hear ya.. We have so many white oaks dropping up here in Fairfield county SC it is absurd. I did about the same thing this morning!
Hunting has been tough for a trad bowhunter on Lake Wateree where I hunt this season. The bucks are starting to do it, my rifle buddies are getting it done, but with so many trees dropping and these East winds I am just striking out other than seeing does and little bucks chasing. I'm holding out for a few mature bucks I have on camera, but patients are running thin haha. I generally try and hunt a mature buck until mid November and then switch to does or cull deer.
Good luck down there!
Back at it this afternoon, still warm but there is a storm coming so things may be on the move. We shall what's out there today, may have some better luck.....I hope
Good luck Ron - headed out myself
Tim B
7 times out, still not a thing......I guess I'm to dumb to quit....... :biglaugh:

I like it here in Georgia, just haven't figured it out yet !! I have no desire to return to NY !!
Hang in there Ron. It only takes one opportunity.
A bad day of hunting in Georgia is still a whole lot better than still living in New York. :goldtooth:

I would agree !! I would love a hunting cabin in N.Y. and live in Waleska !!!
Where are you hunting Ron?
How is the season progressing? Since my wife's hip replacement, I have only been able to make a couple of hunts. No luck so far, but with the rut coming on, things may pick up. Hang in there and good luck. Check out some of the public land in Jasper, Jones, and Putnam counties. There is a good deer population in the Middle Georgia area.
No time to to get discouraged. Have often experienced poorer hunting just before the real action begins.
Our 72 cameras have exhibited nearly a 75% reduction in activity both day and night the past two weeks. The good news is that the day time buck movement has been ramping up the past couple of days.
Ron, they call it the Oct lull for a reason. If the sign is still good, hunt it things will change. If the acorns have dried up take a walk around and see if perhaps another area is hot right now. When you find a hot spot, you will know it.
There are acorns everywhere, still very warm, October lull, lol, my lulls last for years !! I do like hunting the private land , Hall county is pretty close to home !!
Hang in there, Ron!!!!! :archer:
My Pop always said... "ya gotta be at the right place, at the right time"
Another hunt in the books yesterday #8, got a late start but went and sat for about 3 hours. Much cooler temps and it was a beautiful day. But still no action...... not anything moving in the woods...
Hey Ron hang in there. Might be worth another walk around the property. Seems the "hot" tree can change on a moment's notice. Bring your waldrop. If you find an oak that's all tore up underneath sit down and hunt it till dark.
The spot I was in today I hadn't seen deer in 3 sits. Today I watched a 130 inch buck and his girlfriend bed down 40 yards away. After 3 hours I couldn't hold it anymore. They bedded under the tree I sat in last year but saw all the deer where I moved to for this year. Grrr. Anyway keep at it and I hope you figure out the puzzle with the pieces that are constantly changing
Sit # 9, 3 1/2 hours, didn't even take a nap !! Turns out I should have!!!
Evening hunt #10, a bit cooler but clear and sunny!! Actually saw 2 deer at 3:15 and 3:30, both busted me with crazy winds that kept changing. Still it was good to see them, been a long time since I have seen a deer!!
Glad you're getting on em Ron
Get'n better, Ron!!!!!
Sit # 11, another small doe snuck up on me! Hung around at 8 yards right behind me, no shot !!
Soon Ron soon its all going to fall into place.
Neighbor kids busted me sleeping in my stand 2 weeks ago asked if I needed a breathe rite I was allegedly snoring.
D
:biglaugh: hope your strapped in !! :goldtooth:
Ron, I'm running into the same problems you have. My wife has improved, so I have been able to hunt a little lately. I have been hunting the afternoon shift, which is something I don't usually do. I have seen NADA. I need to get back to morning hunts, because I feel it is a better time to see deer. Stay persistent and things ought to pick up, but I really do believe mornings is more likely to be productive.
What ron hasn't mentioned is gun hunters have his lease surrounded. Frankly I think its impressive he has seen anything at all. In WI as soon as rifle season opens it seems the deer become exclusively nocturnal unless its insanely cold and they need food or you have a large tract of land where they have not been pressured
Went before daylight for hunt #12 today. My headlamp die on the way in and I almost broke my neck in the dark, lol :biglaugh: my backup flashlight was almost dead also but we went on. I couldn't find the spot I had picked last time so I just set up in the general area. At 7:15 a doe appeared in front of me at 6 yards walking at a steady pace. I slowly got the bow up but the shot had moved on!! These Georgia deer must go to Ninja classes, they make no sound coming in. This is the third time this has happened!! I got up to leave after 3 hours and see another Hunter in a home made ladder stand 30 yards behind me, never knew he was there, he must have come in after me I guess!! I have new batteries in all my lights now!!
Maybe not Ninja deer, maybe years of too much noise from G.E. :biglaugh: ?
Huntmaster 70 , what? :biglaugh:
Afternoon hunt # 13 is in the books, nice day but no action today !!
Glad your still at it my friend! How long is the season there Ron? Here in MN we go to 12-31
I have spent more than a few cold late season days in a deer stand or ground blind.
Best of luck to you I still feel likes it going to fall in place for you.
Ron, guys like you are tough. I admire your tenacity and hope you get your deer.
Doug in mn, season goes into early January , good thing it isn't cold !!
Sit #14, No story to tell, as always !! :banghead: !!!
Ron,
You have a lot of guys pulling for you, so keep at it and remember that just being in the woods carrying your bow is it own reward. That said we all want to log on and see your picture with a nice deer...
Been sitting in the woods carry'n my bow for over 50 years, still looking for the reward.....!!!
I had to honk at 3 of them sitting in the driveway looking at me this morning on the way to feed the neighbors horses.
My wife gave up hunting a few years back claims the F 150 is all that is needed.
Ford 3 - Deer 0 so far
With the truck it becomes a bit pricey..... :biglaugh:
Are you seeing deer?
Kelly, 14 sits I have seen 4 deer, all at 3:15 in the afternoon !!
Itll happen Ron, just have to see them before they see you.
At least you're getting to see deer, that's a big improvement from you're barren grounds of NY
Sit #15 today 40 degrees and a harsh north wind, nothing seemed to be active !!
Hunt #62 tomorrow afternoon...will likely get in another 15 to 20 hunts....not near the number of hunts due to the morning activity being so poor this season....many shooters have been showing up in the afternoons since late last week.
Well that's it for the season here in Georgia!! Never did get out again. Next year we will give it a go again God willing!! Go to try a tree stand (climber) next year to see if I can't close the deal. Learned a bit and got some fresh air. Even saw a few deer......
