My wife gave me my Christmas gift early this year! The lake behind the house have lots of small coves, and a several creeks feeding into it. Should work out good. She drafts really shallow & is insanely maneuverable.
Nice!
I have one,but it's just red,very cool in camo!
That's sweet. Merry Christmas :goldtooth:
That's my favorite way to get to the hard spots!
Nice, hope you gave the wife a huge smootch.
It's been great so far. Taken out fishing a little, & on a scouting/early teal and goose trip. No luck on the little birds but did get my first goose. My hunting partner and I found several good deer spots along the shore that are only accessible from the water. This boat is a lot easier to handle by myself than my 17' Grumman.
Quiet access to anywhere wet... Old Town quality!
She has taken great care of you.
Nice. It's been a long time since I've been canoeing.
Nice gift from a nice wife. Hope you get to add some buck blood to the goose blood in your new toy soon!
Is it stable enough to use duck hunting if not using a bow??
I'm a kayak fan for stability, but canoes have more hauling capacity. It depends on your needs. Must have been a large stocking!!!
:campfire:
A bit on the heavy side as canoes go but a very durable craft. Enjoy. :clapper:

Already taken an early resident goose with it the first day I had it.

My hunting partners yak is 9" shorter and 4lbs heavier. I would LOVE one of the ultra light, sub-20# Kevlar canoes! But this is super durable and while it might be double the weight, it's half the price as well! :goldtooth: :biglaugh:
That's a slick looking boat!! Merry Christmas!
I've got an old 15' Ouachita canoe that I've had forever. Gotten a lot of use out of it to the point that I stand up in it to bow-fish.
A few years ago I got to wondering if I could use a Kayak paddle in my canoe. Found one at a yard sale & gave it a try. Works well but a bit of an ab work-out by the end of the day.
Those Old town are really nice canoes? Have lots of fun with each stroke of the paddle in Gods great creation.
Love canoes...still mourning the discontinuance of Royalex, but I managed to score a sweet deal on like-new Royalex 16' Wenonah Aurora after they stopped it. Not an issue where you can just drag it out on the bank in your back yard. Kevlar's even lighter, but possibly not the best choice for the rocks and rapids I encounter in shallow rivers.

Nice ! Love the camo , what length is that? I have a 14' old town Cross link and A 16 ft royalex blue hole . Yours looks a lot like my buddy's old town Pack that's 11' and weighs next to nothing Compared to my bigger boats. I love using a canoe to access land. I'm not a big kayak guy, I just love being able to haul stuff and be able to sit or kneel as needed

11'9 @ a listed 54#'s. I'm with you, kayak's are fine for fooling around and such, maybe fishing. But I want the ability to haul a little more and do so comfortably without fear of tipping.
Truck is loaded, boat is in the back of the truck, decent wind for the setup even though it's merely a 3min paddle across a flood control lake that's being drained for repairs. Set up will adjacent a wheat field I'm hoping they are feeding on and I should be between them and the bedding area.
That's a awesome canoe. I almost bought one last year and wish I had done it. :( I have a 15 footer that's great for duck hunting with buddies as it seats 3 but is to much alone so I need a solo canoe myself. Good luck tomorrow.
Rising moon after the evening hunt.

I painted my green old town camo for duck hunting and it is a nice set up. Love that factory cameo tho

That's the story with my 17' Grumman. It was my grandfather's duck boat with my uncle. They hand painted the camo on it, can still see the brush strokes. It's an absolute joy to paddle with person in the front seat. It's a a beast by itself if there's the slightest wind. I've tried sitting backwards in the front seat, and in the middle kneeling with a yak paddle. Even tried to side keel, but with the Oklahoma winds on an open lake shore it got dicey quick.
This thing is pretty easy to paddle into or with the wind. The only real problem I've had is it's one real limitation. It's got more space than a yak but it gets cramped quick with hunting gear.
That is a well trained wife! Enjoy your gift but remember your pfd, things can go very badly, very quickly.
Beautiful boat. I've been kind of itching for the exact same one to use as a hunting vessel as well.
