Got a new spot to hunt, private land. Been a few times to scope it out. Yesterday I went and found a spot with a few oaks. As I got closer to the spot I hear a blow and two small deer broke from cover. Good sign to me..... lol ! Looking forward to the opener in just over a week .
Miss having land to hunt.

Good luck Ron!
Hoping you have some real good luck this year Ron!
Good luck, ron!
Maybe run across a black bear, as well.
:campfire:
Good luck!
I always love scouting new land!
Congrats on the new place to hunt, and good luck.
Yeah good luck Ron- moving and establishing new hunting grounds can be tough - sounds like ya are off to a good start

Be safe, have fun, shoot something ! :coffee: :archer2:
Good luck Ron. Tell us more about the new property. Is it flat? Any persimmon trees? Pine plantations? Any competition with other lease guys? Any agriculture?
Hey Charlie, pretty much just woods, some oaks here and there. Was logged a bit ago and you can tell where it was and wasn't, gradual hills nothing crazy! 135 acres just a few guys hunting it , most on weekends I would think. About 20 minutes from my house.
Scouting a new patch of woods is always fun. I've walked over my place so many times, I know it about as well as the deer. Oddly, though, every time I go out I seem to find a place with deer sign where I have not seen it before.
It's funny how spoiled we get. I have my own farm to hunt 12 mins. from my front door. Within 15 mins of my house I have literally hundreds of public and private acres to hunt yet feel bummed because the property right behind my house I hunted for 24 yrs. isn't available any more...Then I read stuff on here about people either having to lease land or drive for more than an hour just to hunt and I feel guilty. Good luck everybody.
That sounds good nuff. You make a ground blind? Hope you get some action.
Sounds like a homerun Ron!!! :bigsmyl:
Shoot straight, Brother!! :archer:
Well I got out for bit but then got rained out! Boy, 75 and humid at 5:15 am, never hunted in a t shirt before, lol. Still nice to be in the woods at day break. I also sent an arrow to the heavens for my friend Chad Holm, taken to soon, my he RIP !! I carried a bow he made for himself !!
ron, did you see anything? I saw a very nice buck at exactly the spot I wanted him, but he wouldn't turn the right way so I didn't shoot. It started to sprinkle on me, and I got back to the truck just as the rain came. That is good, because this boy does not like to get rained on. You are right, it is good to be back out in the woods. Good luck!
No Sam, just saw a squirrel at first light. Maybe next time.....
It has cooled off a bit so I went hunting this morning!! 50 degrees and dry, sat for 3 hours, acorns are dropping but no action. A couple of squirrels and a owl was all I saw today. We will keep at it......
Tomorrow is the day Ron. Good luck
I Hunt ND and Mn both. But it is about 1.5 hour either way.
I could hunt within 30 minutes, but no comparison in the quality of hunting.
I got out looking around after work tonight myself. It was good to be in the woods again.
Good luck Ron!
Go get em ron!!!
Been out a few times, saw 3 deer on the way in and out one evening. Went last evening but no action!! Hopefully it get better as it gets cooler, can't get any worse........ :biglaugh:
