I was on my way to MoJam in Marshall Missouri about 4 years ago, and only 5 Minutes form there I passed a yard with half a dozen people cutting up a tree, A storm had come threw the night before and up rooted it., I notices the brown heart wood so I turned around and asked If I could have some, walnuts all over the ground.
I went to wal-mart and got some wood glue and and went to the Jamboree and sealed up the ends.

Nice score! Thats my favorite kind of wood, free or scavenged
Well Maxi boy at last ya got some nuts:)
:jumper:
Pretty slick Mark.
Love working with it also. I got a bunch of it when the power company cut down a tree at my moms a few years back. I've always wondered if the sapwood was safe (hard enough) to use.
Is it still considered footed using the same wood for all three pieces?
"Is it still considered footed using the same wood for all three pieces?"
Good question?
I thought it was the way the stripes flares out at the limb pad. :dunno:
Part of my grip and site window will have sap wood in it.
Making progress

Mark, am I seeing things or are your limb pads radiused?
Radiused
beautiful wood
I have a need to see how thats gonna look with a string on it.
I've never heard the term "footed riser". It's not in the Vocabulary section.
I know what a footed arrow is -- a softwood shaft with a short bit of usually dense hardwood spliced into the head end to give the shaft a slight FOC balance. But what that has to do with risers, I haven't a clue.
Hear you go ken

I do too.
I braced it Yesterday , It's kind of like a nice looking Woman, the more curves the Mo better
OK -- I found a description of a footed rise on the Blacktail Bows website. It features a belly and back wood of contrasting color to a thin central strip of wood which flares out to be the only wood at the top and bottom ends of the rise... sort of an I beam effect with large ends on the eye... Blacktail claims it as a proprietary design.
The main reason I made the riser with Walnut was it was free, and I did these stripes for the first time, no loss on a fancy riser. :bigsmyl:
Still need to shape the riser

I like the bend. Could be an illusion or camera angle but the left limb looks shorter??
You just need new glasses

Yeah, I thought it looked like it was unwinding a bit more than the right side. Camera angle and not tillered yet though.
