A friend of mine and to every one who knew him gave us some bad news day before yesterday. He has been undergoing treatment for lung cancer, then they found that it had gotten to his heart. Now his time is limited to just a few weeks at most. I met him about 10 years ago and watched him progress into a very good archer with the longbow. He was also a gifted bow builder, making them only for himself, family members, and a few friends. He made a lightweight longbow that was quiet, fast, and accurate. His friendship is what will be missed most.
A group of us (6-10 guys) got together every Tuesday night to test our skills for at least 3 hours of shooting our bows. Harry was always the first one there, and one of the last to leave. He was active in the local traditional club, and shot in all the local events. He shot in several IBO events, and some of you may have met him at one.
Please pray for Harry Angel. It's probably going to be tough for him and his wife, family, and friends. I'm sure that God loves him, and so do we.

Will do Don.

Prayers up, very sorry to hear this. I've enjoyed many years of 3D's with Harry. Obviously this year's shoots were largely a bust and widely cancelled everywhere. I'd called him up just before the lock-downs to invite him to one and he told me his COPD had worsened and was severely limiting his mobility....was afraid then there was more to it.
Jesus is still the great physician and I lifted up Harry and family and friends up to the King of Kings
Prayers offered.

Prayers for Harry and all his family ....
Spoke with Harry and his wife Donna just a little bit ago. He's starting a different type of treatment Monday and says that he is optimistic about the outcome. Let's keep on praying. he will need a lot of prayer, and a lot of love. He was appreciative that he was on our prayer list.

Praying for Harry.
Spoke with Harry this afternoon. He sounded weak but optimistic. He 's started the new round of Chemo, and is hopeful. He told me about a video at the IBO where someone using one of his bows did very well. Anyone seen that video on Facebook? I believe that the guys name was Don James. It was good hearing Harry talking bows again. When he stops talking bows we'll know he's in need of more prayers. :archer2:
I spoke with Harry this afternoon, too. I got choked up a few times while talking to him. I always told him he cut the shelf on his longbows on the wrong side. I never convinced him, however.
I don't think he ever made a lefty. He is an archers archer. One who would always help where he could, and rib you when shooting together. I hope to shoot with him again, soon.

Lee Hinton and Harry Angel(r).[attachment=1]
From Donna, Harry's wife:
To all our family and friends. This is the hardest thing for me to say. My love, Harry Angel, is now in hospice care. As 2 Timothy 4:7says " I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Harry wants everyone to know that he appreciates all the prayers, cards, calls, and the special way you have each touched his life. Shed a few tears if you must, but Harry wants you to remember life is short and it is how you treat others that matters. Love and compassion goes a long way. Please know we love you all and that you will respect that the time we have left is for the immediate family.

For our Brother.....
Harry Angel passed away this morning.
Thank you for all the prayers and comforting thoughts for Harry and his family.
He will be missed.
Harry Angel loved shooting traditional archery. He was a maker of longbows, always tying to make his next one better than his last. His bows are exceptionally fast for the lighter weight they pulled. I was able to shoot several of his bows, even though the ones he made were right handed. I never could talk him into cutting the shelf on the other side. He never sold his bows that I know of. He gave them away. He was a natural instinctive archer, and a darn good one.
I will miss the ribbing he gave, and took, with his fellow shooters. Shooting with Harry was always a fun time. He loved trying to break the nock of other shooters' arrows who shot before him as a joking gesture. He once tried shooting one of my arrows. When he released we saw a white nock fly off an arrow when his arrow struck the target. The well known SMACK you'd hear just added to the shot. We all laughed when it happened. When we walked up to the target we all realized the nock we saw fly off was to HIS arrow!! Man what a laugh we all had! He tried shooting the lightest arrows he could for speed. I guess that extra drop of glue weighed too much.
Yes, Harry will be missed. Our club will never be the same without him. Neither will I. I will miss him dearly.
Godspeed Harry Angel. May your eternal quiver be ever full.
It is always difficult to say goodbye to a good friend. Prayers are offered for his family and friends.
May he rest in peace and God give comfort to his family and friends.
That was a well typed eulogy. Hopefully all of us will have a friend remember us so kindly.
Lord...Have Mercy...
Harry was truly a guy well liked by his friends who were many. He came to the shop regularly on Tuesday nights for a round of shooting and bantering. Harry was always the first one there and one of the last to leave. It was a group of usually 6-8 guys or gals , and Harry was the heart of the group.
As Bud said, he enjoyed shooting someone else's nocks. His excuse for shooting last was that he only had one good arrow.. The competition was good, and we all gained from the experience. I saw Harry get upset with his shooting on several occasions, but he was gracious in a rare loss.
At our Tuesday night shoot we took up donations, at Harry's and I believe Steve Graff's suggestion. This was suppose to cover the cost of coffee and expense. Since it was more then the actual cost, the donations were diverted to the St jude's Hospital for Kids. They started referring to us as the "Guys of Tuesday Night', in their thank you notes. That's how I want to think of Harry, a guy of Tuesday night.
Thank you Harry for the friendship. Thank you Donna his selfless and loving wife that he loved. Thank you Chris for loaning us your dad. Thank you God.
Our Brother comes to you, as swift and straight, as an arrow shot into the Sun....
Welcome him to his place at the Eternal Campfire. :archer: :archer: :campfire: :archer: :archer:
So sorry to hear sir. I'm sure he's glad to have a friend like you. :campfire:

Harry will be laid to rest tomorrow and we have lost a good friend and fellow archer. I'm sure his family appreciates all of our prayers. If you knew Harry, and have pictures, please post them as a tribute. I hope to find something maybe later today.
For anyone coming in tomorrow, be aware that there is a Black lives matter/Antifa demonstration also planned for downtown Graham, which is where McClure Funeral home is located. :archer2:
Here is a photo from several years back. We had a bowbuilding workshop led by David Knight at the the EFA shop. As you can see Harry is chomping at the bit to get to the sander. This may have been his first attempt at making a bow.

Tuesday nights at Eagles Flight was where I first met Harry. We would split up into 2 teams and the competition was stiff and the ribbing was... well all I can say is better develop some thick skin and learn to give it as well as take it.
After all shots were made Harry was often the first to the target to count up points with Steve Graf taking score. You had to get the lead out to keep up with Harry going to the target.
My most memorable club round at Barefoot was with Harry and Linda Graham.
The first time I saw Harry was at Barefoot and He and Lee Hinton were doing their best to break each others knocks on the practice butts. He was shooting one of his handmade bows and very well too.
A few things I heard Harry say:
"Don't think, just shoot"
"We only need 20 points to win" in the last round.
"This is the the most important game of the night!" last round again
"I'm going for the bonus!" and hit it. More times than we can remember.
Godspeed Harry! Godspeed. We are going to miss you.
