Hi everyone....I was the lucky one who won Kenny's latest giveaway..the box elder veneers. I'm thinking of doing a build a long here for fun and to kinda have you all be a part of this...first decision is hill style longbow or D/R takedown....what riser do you think would look good with these? I'm thinking something along the lines of a curly or Birdseye maple...or possibly Myrtle? Any suggestions you may have? Here's a pic of the veneers.[attachment=1]
D/R with something Redish if that's a word for riser, Redheart, Bubinga...
Send them to me for a closer examination. Thereafter I will return them along with suggestions . . . . . . or not! :)
A hill style build along would be cool since we don't see many.
I like the idea of maple riser. Maybe some fine accents/overlays of red heart or red micarta.
My vote goes for Zircote or something dark.
D/R with tulipwood riser.
Thanks all....I really like the tulipwood idea...however I've ordered it before and it's a crapshoot as to what you get. There's no place around me that sells it so I can't go look at them. I'm really looking at some nice figured maple for the riser. I'll make a decision tonight so I can let Kenny know.
Hill Style. We see an awful lot of 3-piece takedowns, and darn few on-piece bows.
Classic Hill style riser, but without the leather wrap. Make the handle in multiple pieces of different woods;unless you know how to do checkering, like on a firearm; then do the riser in a dark wood and checker the hand grip area...
Mike at Rosewood could probably help with tulipwood.
