When making endless loop bowstrings do you put extra strands in the loops?
Bue, I've never made an endless loop string but I believe the loops are wrapped with serving which would pad the loop.
If you make a 12 strand endless loop string you are only going to have 6 strands in the loop, the serving brings the diameter back up to be similar to a 12 strand flemish.
I like a endless loop but they can be a pain to make
My endless jig automatically puts two extra strands into the beginning loop since the first strand crosses the loop area twice and the last strand does the same. Therefore, I pad the other loop two strands to make them equal.
The only time loops get abused for me is with a tillering string on roughed in string nocks.
Okay thanks.
I pad mine with 4/6 strands. Rarely build Flemish any more, I am much more successful hitting the target length with an endless loop.

I am glad to know I am not the only one that's having trouble with making Flemish strings. :biglaugh:
