Shrew Haven in Michigans upper peninsula is my deer hunting camp where I spend about 10 days with friends hunting every fall. The problem is that is a 9 hour drive from my home in the lower part of the state so my time spent there is limited because of it's location.
My wife was born and raised on a farm just an hours drive north of where I live. It has a 3 acre lake on the back side loaded with bass, pike and panfish. I've graduated from a john boat to a small pontoon boat for fishing on the lake and I spend most of my weekends there in the summer plus a good amount of time hunting every fall.

I normally stay in the house where our oldest son now lives and go back and forth to the lake in my ATV
I just purchased a small log cabin that I'm going to have moved to sit close to the lake, giving me a place to stay when I'm there. It was built by the Amish from 8" cedar logs, it is 12'X 20' with a 4' porch in front. Furnished with a bed, small wood stove plus table and chairs will give me an oldtimey place to stay both in summer and wnter.
I'm really looking forward to havng it there and I antiipate spending many hours of enjoyment in the days ahead.

Beautiful little cabin, nice pontoon boat, great spot... sounds like some well deserved good relaxing times ahead - congratulations!
Looking good, Ron. That is a great set up. You can do something great every day in a place like that.
By the way, How is the new shoulder? Mine are great.
Love the cabin and the boat!
Where did you find that size pontoon boat?
A slice o the wilderness. Beauty
Outstanding!
What a beauty.
Beautiful setup! Do you have any pictures of the inside? My neighbors have one but, it is not a log cabin type and they love it.
I don't have it moved on site yet so there's nothing inside. The 8" logs are both the outside and inside walls.
Nice!

Ron, you are living the dream of many of us. We are with you in spirit..., and..., how many can that pontoon hold? :archer2: :archer2:
It has two swivel chairs and a bench. I've had 4 adults on it with plenty of room
Very nice Ron ! Hopefully one day I'll be able to retire and enjoy some peace and quiet .
LIKE...! What an awesome set up...
Love it Mr Ron!
A little slice of Heaven!
That's really nice. I'm jealous!
Who is the Amishman that builds those cabins?
Looks like a great place to have a cigar and appreciate nature! Enjoy it, sir.
Very cool Ron! Thanks for sharing.

Wow. That is fantastic!
Very nice!
Nice set up Ron. Are you going to call it "Shrew Haven South"?
Ron, I have been admiring the pic of the little cabin without comment thus far. I can't wait to see some photos of it when you have it in place and furnished :notworthy:
I visited my cabin the other day.
It hasn't been moved to it's final destination yet, I'm waiting for the ground to dry up a little.

There is a loft that extends out over the porch that will be another sleeping area or storage

Nice looking setup there Ron.
My small potbelly stove should heat it just fine
This is really cool to see. Thanks for sharing.

This will be the view from the cabin porch, looking west at the sunset

It seems like the older I get the more I love to watch the sunset

So true Ron. Sometimes at the camp, I elect not to hunt in the afternoon and just enjoy the sunset and look so closely at nature and its wonders.
really neat, enjoy
That is definitely a place to go and reflect.

You'll be able to see the deer with your Swarovski binoculars moving on the other side of the lake and you'll know exactly where to set up this fall
Sun up and sun down are the best part of setting in your blind just remember to watch for deer.
What a sweet setup  :archer:
