Have any of you guys used this product? If so how did it turn out and what type adhesive did you use on glass bow? any help appreciated
Used it a few times. Here is a link to a photo of a Morrison I did a few years back. https://ibb.co/ThWXKXj. It was a lot easier to work with than the real thing (I tried!) and the results were, to my eye, excellent. I also sold a bow I did to a member here and he told me that he was planning to remove it but it looked so good he left it on the bow. Used Titebond and sprayed with a urethane spar varnish after it was done. Use a REALLY sharp Exacto for the cuts and angle the blade down and out, away from the limb, for best result.
Thanks for reply, I have some titebond 3 in your opion will that work well? also what did you do to prep the limbs for application?
I used them very recently. I bought a project now and did some limb repairs and full refinish. I finished the limbs then scuffed them up good and applied the cloth skins using Titebond III. It worked really well and looks sharp. The cloth has a lot of texture to it so I think if you want it to be a super smooth and polished finish, then epoxy may be a better route for installation. I like the look of the skins and personally don't like a polished shine on my bows so it suits me perfectly.
I'll try and get some pics in this thread when I get a chance.
Titebond III is fine. Wiped the limbs down with denatured alcohol, then scuffed with 000 steel wool.
Bob Sarrels has made a bunch of bows with the cloth under the glass. Those bows looked great.

Thanks guys, I just ordered some copperhead print looking forward to this project. Another question, how long did you guys leave the glue set before applying finish? think Im going to use spar urethane.
The easy answer is: until it's good and dry. Humidity varies, so does drying time. If you wait for it to totally dry, you can find any little spots that need a drop of glue before you spray on the spar urethane.
I've applied them twice, but I prefer Rick Barbees adhesive decal style better.
I tried the vinyl skins and really didn't care for the look, hoping the cloth is more realistic looking.
The cloth definitely looks more realistic-- I tried the vinyl and didn't think it looked good.
I hope J. Cook puts up pics like to see them.
Pics of the refinish I described above. Finish was Spar Urethane.
I should add those were installed over black glass.
Those look really sweet hope mine turn out that good. Mine will be going over clear glass with osage veneers.. Hoping the copperhead will look good, what you guys think
Ok Ive received my cloth, now one more question after applying glue to the limb. I put the cloth down , now should I apply glue on top of the cloth also? Also what is best way to get all wrinkles out of cloth, rub with finger or use some type of roller? Im prob making this harder than it is but want good turnout.
take your time .to get the wrinkles out I had rubber glove on my hand and used very slightly watered down titebond and worked it in while getting it some . I waited a several days for the glue to cure then I trimmed a very sharp knife is correct then I rubbed glue on thee trimmed edge then let cure and spray. one year later and much use they don't appear to be lifting . the key is take your time
Thanks for tips appreciate help hope I can post pics after done. Seems like I have issues with pics lol
i looked the faux skins up, I was surprised at the price!
Does the added weight of the epoxy on the limbs have any noticeable affect on performance?
Where are you finding this cloth? Who sells it?
Installed skins today , look real good so far. Leaving them dry over night ,will trim tomorrow and spray with spar. How mant coats do you guys recommend? will try and post pics, although haven't had much luck with that lol.
I bought the cloth from 3 rivers archery. They have copperhead and rattlesnake print.
The cloth skins turned out excellent, put 6 coats of urethane on them. Everyone that's seen it think their real skins lol. like to post some pics how do I do that from my phone? There was no loss of performance from the skin application at all.
Hey Wapitshooter, Did you end up using Titebond to adhere the cloth to the bow and was the bow glass backed? Thanks!
Yes I used titebond 3 and it was on a glassbacked bow. Ive literally shot few hundred arrows thru it no issues so far.
:archer2: fun project wasn't it . I put them my first laminated bow from bingham. and yes at a glance they look like real ones :archer2:. im thinking the copperhead ones are next
Yes it was fun and I got a Kodiak hunter Im thinking of putting the rattlesnake on, really changes the look of a bow.
Years ago I put the decal snakeskins from Onestringer on my bow, but after seeing those pictures from Jonathan Cook, I just might have to switch to the cloth type. Mark, please post some pictures of how yours came out!
I want to post pics but need to find someone to help. Im unfortunately very computer dumb. Will post some soon as I get some help lol

Looks great!!!!
Thanks guys ,I thought it turned out well. Like it much better than the vinyl ones I tried before.
That looks sweet! Well done.
Anyone out there who has used the rattlesnake cloth skins, with pictures?
Real skins are not hard. Idk why you'd fool around with the fake stuff..
